METS RELIEVER FALLS, OUT FOR SEASON
LHP Jerry Blevins fell off a curb and re-fractured a left forearm bone Monday night, according to the Mets. The 31-year-old Blevins, who came from the Nationals for Matt den Dekker, is eligible for free agency after the season. He is earning $2.4M this season

Because he isn't the best hitter on the team. He has been for the past 6 years with no quality batters protecting him. He's been a perennial All-Star when healthy. Let's see how he does with Cespedes and a smoking hot Duda hitting behind him. You'll see what a quality hitter he is to all fields.

DeGrom pitching tonight in front of family and friends. Last outing was below average for him.
Hope he comes out and gets back to his normal dominance and the "O" keeps pounding the ball.

Every time the Nats look at the scoreboard these days the Mets are having a big inning each game. After awhile, that gets demoralizing. Cespedes and Duda with the big hits tonight. Working the pitchers deep into the count. Pitchers have been hitting the 100 pitch mark around the 6th inning. Once Wright gets back our roster will be lengthened even more.

Will Wright automatically be hitting 3rd when he comes back? That is going to really piss me off. Why does that piss you off?

Hey Jason, the Mets have been hit hard by injuries too. Wright, Matz, Murphy, Cuddyer, Lagares.
It's going to be a tough pennant race. Nats are getting healthy fast and Strasburg is about a week away.
Mets need to beat the crap out of TB, Miami and Boston and all the other sub .500's they play.
What a difference a year can make when your farm system starts feeding the BEAST. Mats back soon and hopefully Wright and Cuddyer.

As the stats show.... 1 out situational lefty out of the bullpen.
The Oakland A’s traded left-handed pitcher Eric O’Flaherty and cash considerations to the New York Mets for a player to be named later or cash, the club announced Tuesday evening.
O’Flaherty was designated for assignment on Saturday.
O’Flaherty was 1-2 with a 5.91 ERA and .312 opponents batting average in 25 relief appearances with the A’s. His opponents average included a .186 mark against left-handed hitters compared to .420 against right-handers.
O’Flaherty signed a two-year deal with Oakland following Tommy John surgery in 2013 and was 2-2 with a save and a 4.14 ERA in 46 games overall with the A’s. He has a 2.99 ERA in 419 career appearances.

Seems almost too good to be true that he'd want to stay with the team after only a week Yup. Probably just telling the reporters what the fans want to hear. One look at that rotation and I'd want to be riding that train for awhile too!! Average 2 runs/game and your playing .500 ball Average 3 runs/game and your probably playing .600 ball

Cespedes awakens!! Duda has a quiet night but Cespedes erupts. With Duda on a tear, Cespedes saw quality pitches ahead of him. And Murphy saw good pitches ahead of Cespedes.
Hitting is contagious.

If that doesn't give Wilpon a boner for investing in this team, nothing will.
What a great 3rd inning... out of nowhere...BOOM!! Grandy, Murph and Duda (Again)
These young pitchers are amazing. We've got a 4 yr. window of utter domination ahead of us.
And the fans riding Harpers ass all night was classic Mets fandom. Got nervous when he stepped up in the 8th with 1 on, but Thor blew 98 MPH heat past him. Clippard's looking better... he tops out at 93 but that ball moves for him.
On the road in Fla for 6 games. Hope Duda brings his Citi Field bat with him for a change. Duda's production has been largely absent on the road this season, however, and he's routinely struggled against Miami's Tom Koehler. Duda is batting .194 with three homers and nine RBI on the road compared to .296, 18 and 41 at home. He's homered once in his last 12 games at Miami -- none in the past seven.
He's also 3 for 22 (.136) with two doubles against Koehler.
Marlins and TB always put up a good fight. Hope we don't have a let down and drop 4 of 6

That god damn 24 hour stupid kzone ESPN uses now is going to piss me off something terrible tonight. KZone can show you the exact location of Thors' 11 strikeouts tonight

Wilmer's trying to distance himself from that whole crying thing. Can't blame him, although it certainly won the hearts of the fans... in the clubhouse it might be a little different.
Rex has no excuses.... he's a child in a mans body.

I'm liking the way that looks Lith. Cespedes won't have Cabrera, Kinsler and Martinez. He's finally THE MAN now... let's see if he's up for it.

Agreed. He did make a nice play on a sinking liner in the gap. I thought he and Lagaras were going to collide. 2 runners on and 2 out. Big out.
I don't know if the rookie Conforto makes that play, but considering he's a better hitter I would prefer Conforto hitting in the 6th or 7th hole.
