Put me down for like both hires. They seem well thought out and these are 2 highly regarded guys in the NFL.
With Mac you get a scout by nature who's diligent, hard working, and has risen through the ranks for a long time. He wouldn't even take the job unless he got assurance from Woody that he would be able to a world class scouting dept! Everything about this guy tells me that he will revamp our whole entire scouting process, something we've needed to do for a long time.
Bowles is a great hire. His players rave about him, opposing players rave about him, well-regarded in the coaching circles, and what he did with that Arizona D tells me 2 things: 1) he is able to do more with less 2) he is able to adapt his scheme to fit his players. What he did in Philly is nothing like what he did when he got to Arizona. He stunk in Philly primarily because his secondary was garbage, but he running a different scheme. In Arizona, Bowles took Ray Horton's old principles from the 3-4 he built there and added his own wrinkles to it, making it more aggressive. This man is not gonna build a pansy football team. That's important! I'm concerned with bringing Gailey in here to run the offense. It's not the worse thing in the world but would have liked to see someone else like Trestman in that spot. At the end of the day it doesn't even matter. We need to find a QB first and foremost from somewhere....

I like both as well. If you look at both guys and wanted to focus on the negatives, the only things I'd point out are...
Maccagnan is clearly a talent evaluator and personnel guy. But he may need help on salary cap and contract structure stuff. The Jets may need to hire a bean counter as an assistant for him...which is MUCH better than having a bean counter as the top guy (ex. Idzik, Tanny)
Bowles is a first time HC and comes from the defensive side of the ball. We'll need a strong OC and someone with some overall HC or management experience. It sounds like Chan Gailey is coming in and I'm not sure how I feel about that but it certainly checks those two boxes since Gailey is a former HC and, at one point a while ago, was a pretty good OC. If he becomes a Westhoff type for Bowles then that's great.

Damn right
Not sure how things could've gone much better. Maccagnan has been my #1 choice for GM ever since DeCosta declined to interview and Bowles was one of my Top 3 choices for HC along with Quinn and Marrone.
All in all, I'm glad that we didn't have Woody picking names out of a fucking hat. Praise Casserly and The Wolf.
Quinn and Bowles were the Top 2, up and coming coordinators out there in line for a promotion and we landed one of them.
And I have no idea why so many hate the hire of Gailey as OC. We essentially just hired Norv Turner to oversee the offense. A reknowned offensive mind who simply underwhelmed when promoted to HC.

Yes. But I am not liking the OC hire. I guess it will be good to have a guy with HCing experience on the staff but that is about it.

Gailey was always a decent OC along with Norv Turner but terrible head coaches. Don't really know anything about Mike Campbell for our DC but I guess we'll see. Can we coax Westhoff out of retirement?

IMO Westy would come back if he could get some decent players on STs but the way the salary structure is now he is left coaching a bunch of rookies and UDFAs and I don't think he wants that.

It's like a friggin draft pick: a lottery.
The proof will be in the pudding. Truth is we have no clue how these dudes will pan out.
I like it for now until I can say I don't.

Yeah, been a Jets fan too long to get my hopes up. +1 I voted "No" b/c there wasn't an option for "cautiously optimistic".
