I think it happened last season too…on MNF or TNF. WR I think. Same fencing response. Forget what player/team. Scary as anything but I’ve seen it in hockey/football/baseball/soccer. Happens more than one would think. Not trying at all to minimize it. No matter how you slice it, it a traumatic brain injury. These aren’t like hamstrings or pulled groins and you’ve only got so many you can take. I've never seen that finger curling thing. I thought maybe he got his fingers caught in his facemask and broke them. My understanding of brain injuries is that if you don't allow the brain to heal and you get another concussion the damage is much worse the second time. So if they bullshitted the first and never reevaluated Tua, and then this happened, that's pretty bad. Terrible. Maybe if the jets can beat the Steelers this week then they can beat the fish next week sans Tua. We’ve had enough go wrong that maybe we get a break. F it. But I do hope he’s ok. And I also pray that Zach is the answer we’ve been waiting for and stays healthy in body and mind to win us some fuckin’ games.

Not sure what to make of the bills injury. With all the scrutiny around concussion protocol you’d hope their diagnosis was made accordingly. And in good faith. Who knows. Not a good look for nfl though. At all. The NFLPA is doing an investigation into Tua's quick return from the Bills game. If somebody pencil whipped his concussion test to get him back out for the Bills game shits gonna get ugly after what happened. This was before tonights game. Seems pretty obvious he got concussed in the Bills game. He couldn't even walk straight. Hope he's OK but on a short week, he shouldn't have been out there. NFL still has a long way to go in these matters.

I read Tua took the flight back home with the team..really? After a horribly looking brain trauma, you get discharged a few hours later at the hospital, then take a flight? Where's Jetworks??

If we could circle back to that pussyfart up in New England - IIRC some chooch tweeted jokes was a real man because his ankle sprain would require surgery for most people?
Who the fuck gets surgery for a sprained ankle? Ever? Wtf

Technically a sprain is the stretching or tearing of a ligament and there are a few grades, the most severe often requiring surgery depending on the joint.

I had the same reaction when I heard he was flying. I had high ankle sprains a couple of times and they were fuckin horrible. The swelling, the pain. Dr. told me youre much better off actually breaking your ankle then getting a high sprain. That explains the kid being in agony and why I larfed when they said he was week to week. It'll take them a week just to get the swelling down a little.

Yup, I agree it's pretty stupid given the pressure changes experienced when flying. That said, remember that you can sign out AMA while bleeding out, with a heart attack and stroke occurring simultaneously.

Can you explain the second sentence to us? Lol, sorry. AMA is 'against medical advice.' Your rights as a patient supersede anything else, provided you have the capacity to make decisions for yourself (so most members here are SOL). But if someone has dementia, is not able to pass an evaluation of cognition at the time (think head injury), or is a minor (little trickier), then they may lack the capacity to make sound medical decisions for themselves, up to and including, refusal of treatment.
