sure, but you also have to weigh in other factors such as the cost to acquire Carr vs Mayfield. I have no idea what the cost is, but certainly isn’t just black or white. Mayfield is only marginally better than ZW, IMHO. I think we need to find our Qb. Carr is good but will cost a fortune in picks and salary cap. Making the rest of the team weak. I really think we go into next year with ZW and MW and let the better man play. I think MW is good enough to win with this team, yesterday he was still recovering. Rib injuries are terribly slow to recover from. We need Oline badly though. If we can solidify the Oline this offense can perform in the top 15, easily. Grab a Safety and we should be good. Lawson will return to normal next season, his injury really is a 2-year deal. I still hate this fucking team. I'm not a capologist but we have a ton of guys on their rookie deals, so that's 5 years on the cheap no? Not sure how much it would hurt us, to pull the trigger.

Where we have been drafting those rookies deals are pretty expensive. Quinnen's 5th year option is gonna cost us $11.5 million next year. Zach is gonna make $9.5 million sitting on the bench. The biggest savings will be cutting Lawson and Davis. About 25 million in savings with only 1 million in dead cap. Those are the only two guys where the dead money isnt prohibitive.

“ When the Jets beat the Bears in Week 12, it ensured they’d be playing meaningful football in December, which was general manager Joe Douglas’ stated goal in the offseason. The Jets wanted to play meaningful games in December and January, and they did that. But they never said anything about winning those games.”

I would like to explore keeping him. His injury is a two-year recovery injury. He could return next year and have a monster year with all the double teams Q gets in the middle.

He would probably have to agree to a pay-cut/restructure.

Agree, if he agrees to a restructure. However, Michael Clemons and Bryce Huff are waiting in the wings.
