Yeah, I noticed that too. Seemed like he plays a bit soft but I’m sure they’ll get that kid in the weight room & beef him up. The upside could be tremendous.

nice two things: i wanna see the blocking video and if this kid is sharp enough to always run the right routes, rodgers is gonna fuckin love him. like total home love. in the dark cave The only knock I saw on this kid was his blocking and a lack of physicality. In fairness, maybe Chesapeake can tell us, perhaps he wasnt asked to do that much in College because his height, speed and hands were enough for their program. If he can be a mismatch in the passing game (imagine being on that side of the equation for a change) and can put his huge frame between a defender now and then, I couldn't care less about his lack of physicality and blocking. We've been saddled with the same type of TE for decades, I'm good with going in the opposite direction for a few seasons.

I am certain we can improve his blocking capabilities a little to make him effective. I want someone at the position who must be accounted for by the D. We have had athletic tackles with good hands in this spot for years. He really could help open things up. Plus, if Rucker is any good, we might actually have two.

How does everyone feel about the Oline and OLine depth now that they got a Center and OT in the draft? I think both players could end up as starters and assuming Tippmann starts at center McGovern is solid depth at Guard and Center. Warren is a wild card at tackle and supposedly dropped due to injury. If he is healthy we have 4 or 5 players that are starting caliber tackles. Brown, Becton, Mitchell, Warren, AVT

From all that I’ve read about Warren, he is still raw despite being 24. Good pass protector but very flawed in the run. Definitely needs to be coached up. I saw an interview where he said that he is 100% recovered from last years injury. The one good thing is that he seems athletic & you can’t teach size.

The rest are all depth-level players until proven otherwise. McGovern was so bad, no one signed him as a free agent despite taking every snap and having a decent health history. The picks are, as always, question marks at this time of year. I am optimistic about the center and hopefully about the tackle we grabbed.

Calling correct protections, audibling out of bad plays, getting rid of the ball quick, forcing teams to play more coverage and bring less pressure, etc. Cannot be understated. That said I feel like we need to acquire a Tackle via trade or free agency. The current free agent list is slim pickings. I feel like our OIL is in good shape. I expect Tomlinson to bounce back. I think Tippman will start at Center and will perform well for a rookie. And AVT will be AVT.

Also having Hall at RB and Rodgers at QB means that defenses have to respect every aspect of the offense which we haven't had in years. Put 8 in the box to stop Hall and Rodgers will pick apart single coverage. Drop everyone into coverage and Hall will destroy them. Having Rodgers will improve the entire offense and hopefully sustain drives which will even make the defense better and improve field position. Brown was above average while injured and with a bad QB pool. AVT wasn't good he was amazing wherever they put him. McGovern was graded the number 11 Center last year even with the constant moving parts. I may be overly optimistic but I think the line will be fine (assuming they stay relatively healthy).

And if anything Zach made their jobs a lot harder. In fact all of our QBs did. Zach was a deer in the headlights, and Flacco and White were statues. I would have loved to grab a tackle in the first round. But we got beat to them. And for good reason. We traded for Rodgers. Rodgers is part of our draft class. The Jets dont plan on drafting high for the foreseeable future. Our first pick next year might be in the 60s. We wont be in position to get a player of McDonald's quality. Basically we missed out on a premium position that was also a need but went with the next best thing which is a premium position that is going to be a need soon with JFM, Lawson and Huff departing next year. In a perfect world we would have been able to make all picks that help boost Rodgers and our future. We just werent in position to. I think we all have a hangover from last year. Two Top 10 picks. Jermaine falling and us having the capital to move up. Thats a once in a lifetime draft. As the team succeeds we are going to have a lot more drafts like the one we had this year. Not sexy but stable. Refueling the pipeline.

I'm cautiously optimistic with Breece's injury comeback. Don't think he'll be 100% out of the gate, hence the Izzy pick, but sure he'll become Aaron's best friend by week 5 or 6.
