Help! I'm surrounded by d-bags with southie accents! Almost as bad, Seattle brought their weather with them the past two days. It rains about 6 days a year in Phoenix...Thursday and Friday were two of them. Things are much better organized this time around though. After hosting in 2008, this is the 2nd time the game here in Arizona and everything from the traffic to crowd control to the separation of activities is better. I'll post a few pictures from parties, NFL Experience, and the game in this thread if people are interested. Highlights of the week so far: - Took the boy to NFL Experience and met Derrick Brooks (HOFer from Tampa) and Fred Taylor (RB from Jax), had him do the Play 60 drills, get Drafted by the Jets, saw the Lombardi trophy, etc. - Went the NFLPA VIP party on Thursday night at the W in Scottsdale. Cam Newton is one big mofo. Jamie Foxx likes to pour Jack Daniels shots for chicks. - Saw them filming the Bud Light Up for Whatever commercial last night. I'm assuming it's the one that will air tomorrow. The party scene was crazy as a camera followed this dude around SB Central in Downtown and there's a giant Budweiser party palace right outside SB Central by the US Airways Center. Just a note about the setup here for anyone interested in the geography - There are basically 3 locations of activities. The University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale, AZ where the game will be is setup with activities around the stadium but is mostly geared towards the game itself and the tailgate for tomorrow. The Downtown Super Bowl Central area is in the heart of Phoenix, giant Verizon stage, ESPN and NFL Network broadcasting, NFL Experience, etc. That's basically the hub for most fan activities and promotions. And finally there's Scottsdale which is where most of the parties are and most players, media, fans are staying in hotels (ex. the entire NFL Players Association group like Demaurice Smith, etc. are at the W and that's where they hosted their party). Fun week, too bad we've got a couple of dooshy teams in town. I think it would be much more enjoyable if it was something like GB vs. Indy or GB vs. Baltimore. Only thing worse would be a Flats*-Cowboys SB in my opinion.

From what you have seen, anything you would recommend for this evening -- we are getting in around 5PM -- assuming we get out ahead of the snowstorm heading to the midwest today. Was thinking of either heading to Scottsdale or to Phoenix SB central tonight. Any recommendation. Thanks

Did all this not happen last year in NY, or didn't anyone notice?

If he's under 21 I'd definitely avoid Scottsdale and stick to SB Central. Lots of activities but it will be crowded. Even if older than 21, many (but not all) of the best restaurants, bars, etc. are closed for invite-only SB parties or are full with dinner reservations. Last night and tonight are the biggest party nights. My suggestion would be if you want a football experience head to SB Central in Downtown. You might want to check out NFL Experience at the Convention Center. I think it's open until 9:30 or 10PM tonight. Lots of fun...activities, autographs, etc. It's 2 blocks from SB Central and the XLIX stage (see map below). The Roots played on that stage last night. Free concerts every day, NFL Network and ESPN have their sets located there. www.nfl.com/superbowl/49/eventsI'll be up in 434 tomorrow. Look for a guy in a white Namath jersey and say hi.

Did all this not happen last year in NY, or didn't anyone notice? It definitely happened. Not sure where they held NFL Experience but there's no doubt that most of the same activities were going on.

We're local so I'm able to avoid airfare, hotel costs, etc. but even with great connections SB tickets are still close to $1K each....to see two teams we don't really like. The NFL Experience is great though, cheap tickets ($25) to basically go to a NFL theme park, kick FGs, see the Lombardi trophy, get autographs, etc. We spent 4 hours there yesterday.

My head would have exploded as a kid going to any activity where I could meet a pro athlete. And at the friggin' Super Bowl, no less?! Had to be fun watching your son mesmerized by all the stuff. WTF has happened to the world where a ticket is $1K? On TV, they said some prime seats were $40K. That's fuckin' crazy.

Thanks for the info. Never made it to the SB experience. My son is 22 -- instead we decided to just find a sports bar, have a couple of beers and watch some hockey. Not sure where I will be sitting for the game -- I have a voucher from the NFL that we exchange for our tix at the stadium tomorrow, but I will look for the guy in the Namath jersey tomorrow. It will be a welcome change from all the Gronk, Brady & 12th man jerseys that are around town.

Seattle truly did find a way to bring their weather. It's nuts.
