I like the signing, he'd likely be dogging the Jets in a Miami or Buffalo uniform if the Jets thought better of re-signing. Also, while football is a business, and teams can't afford to be to sentimental, if you have a player like Harris, sign him. Harris is a tackling machine, wants to be a Jet, didn't ask for the moon as far as money, and brings a respected veteran presence to the locker room.

Not bad Harris may be a liability in coverage but he's one of the true leaders on this team and is still a damn good thumper in the middle. Yeah I think it was a little costly but there were lots of suitors out there including Wrecks. Plus he will play that Karlos Dansby role as the thumper in the middle like you say. Good signing and I bet they still go after an edge rusher...VICK BEASTLY!

The ILB market was bare this year, not too many options for a plug and play starter. This gives the Jets a great opportunity to draft a kid and not have to force him into a starting role from day one. After his poor showing at the combine and a few character concerns, how awesome would it be to land a kid like Paul Dawson in the 3rd or even 4th round to groom behind Harris? Would love this

I would even consider Anthony in the 3rd as well.

Funny that Marshall/Harris happen on same day. In '09, #Jets tried to trade for BM, but wouldn't give up the player DEN wanted -- Harris.

Keep in mind we have a shit ton of money we HAVE to spend his offseason. Yes we're still going to go hard in FA but if we have to spend money it might as well be on a proven vet leader

Big part of our elite run D, did not want to lose him. A bit more than expected but we have a shit ton of money and actually do need to spend it.
