You guys obsessed with Carpenter's run blocking rating meanwhile Iupati gave up 7 sacks and 22 hurries this year in pass protection. Yet we should have signed him to $8.5 million per year. linkThats like one game for Winters LOL!

how can that be with seattles interior running game? Have you ever seen Lynch run the ball? He pretty much always breaks the first tackle so he makes the OL look good. A runner like Lynch would be a huge asset for any team that needed like a yard for a TD...he'd be almost unstoppable...oh wait

He graded out as the 27th best guard at pass blocking and 62nd guard in run blocking. You can tell by that the Jets will be running a much different offense then the past 6 years. Oh and just remember, there are 64 starting guards in the NFL, so 27th is pretty good. So he was 62 out of 64 in run blocking? 62 out of 64? And this is an upgrade? I hope the two guys he was better than are Willie Colon and Oday Aboushi! This is the kind of talent evaluation the Jets need, sign this beast of a poster!

I'm not going to pretend Carpenter is head and shoulders above anyone, but he's a solid player and is a clear upgrade at Guard. Sometimes guys are just better fits scheme wise. Carpenter is a plus pass blocker, which is important. His run blocking is his weakness. Good thing he will be next to Mangold this season. Maybe he will be a better run blocker in a different system, who knows. One thing I do know is the Jets have upgraded one of their Guard spots over last year, that's a start.

I'm fine with Carpenter. He is 25 and will only improve. Frankly, I'd like the Jets to also go after the other 25 year old guard on the FA market, Clint Bolling. It would make the O line much younger and free the Jets up to to select an OT in the first four rounds of the draft.

I think I remember Carpenter from the Super Bowl, he seemed huge and active after the whistle if I recall correctly.

Would rather get someone younger like Culliver anyway. I think the "doesn't sound like guy coming back" is a Cards reference. The original tweet was sent by "Cardschatter". Cimini just re-tweeted it.
