Ugh not a fan, hope it wasn't for tons of money. Hopefully he is a better fit in Gaileys offense. He was also playing hurt last year.

well, if they can get him to stay in shape, they've really upgraded pass protection. the right side got geno mauled last year.

I'm glad he has a pass protection focus. That's what worried me a lot about Iupati.
However I'm a bit concerned about the vision for building the team, as Carpenter and Iupati seem like such different players. We were apparently pursuing Iupati strongly, it's a bit odd to transition to a pass blocker now who struggles against the run.
Maybe it's just a case of taking the best players who are available at reasonable prices - not something I'm opposed to, I just hope the coaching staff can make it work. It's been so long since we've had a coaching staff that does that. I guess we'll know when the contract details emerge.

Once we lost out on Iupati, I would have preferred Boling -- but he is rumored to be close with Mike Zimmer and the Vikings. If Boling is/was not going to come here, Carpenter was the next best option. Not an A+ signing, but not a D or an F either. I will be curious to see the terms of the contract.
Hoepfully this is the start of an active day.

Other teams who offer the player a better chance at making the playoffs and making a run at the Super Bowl. We are going to have to overpay (see Harris) and even that might be enough to attract top tier guys who will be sold that they are the difference maker for the team.

You don't think the Jets have a good shot at making the playoffs?

very happy with the infuse of offensive talent. Marshall and Carpenter are huge upgrades for us at two very needy positions and both come fairly cheaply. hopefully theres another OL signed but the attention should appropriately now go to Revis and Skrine

I like the terms of that Carpenter deal.
I'm a bit worried we're about to overpay for Skrine.

Yes! Powell is probably the most underrated/underused guy on the team. Glad he's staying.
