I'd want Brees if we were just building to win RIGHT NOW as opposed to long-term success. He's 36, coming off a down year, has a hefty price tag, etc. I just don't want that. I'd hope we could find a young QB and develop him ourselves so that we could have a chance at long-term, sustained success. I just think a team looking for a Drew Brees is looking to win at this exact moment, forget the future. Love the QB, but I just don't think it's the right situation for us.

Do not want Brees. Aside from his age, his cap number, mortgaging the future to take on those things, there is the fact that there are two different Drews -- the one who plays in the Superdome, and the one who plays on the road. This will not go well, come November and December. Definitely pass on this one.

You guys are nuts. He's a Super Bowl champion, and one of the most prolific passers in the past decade. I'd take him in a heartbeat. Favre 2.0 The best game I ever went to (and admittedly, I haven't been to many good ones) was when Favre threw 5 TDs against the Cardinals in the first half.

And then somehow Cards almost came back...we were wearing those hideous Titans TBs... Didn't Anquan Boldins face get broken at the end of the game? Like orbital bone fractures and shit..

Oooh, yes, it was that game. Eric Smith walloped his ass I think. A lot of people thought he was dead. Was watching that at a bar. That was a SNF or MNF game I think. Def a night game.

Was in Boston where it gets dark at like 4pm so maybe that's what it was.

EDIT - I did not go look these up to verify, so they could be wrong but if they are right, I'd be on board Decided to take a look at Brees career stats indoors and out -- and while his numbers indoors are better, they have been pretty good outdoors as well. Nowhere near the difference that I expected to see. Indoors: 68% completions 210 - 92 TD - Int Rate 11.5 Yards per Completion 7.9 Yards per attempt 101 Rating Outdoors: 64% Completions 175-95 TD-Int 11.1 yards per completion 7.1 Yards per attempt 90 Rating Still see it as a huge longshot that we get anything done with the Saints, but the numbers look a lot different than what I expected. You're crazy if you wouldn't want Brees. Yes we're still building but we would be a SB contender immediately with Brees at the helm - forget 4-5 years down the road, he's a SuperBowl MVP and 9 time pro bowler and we'd be surrounding him with the best WR corp he's ever had and what looks to be one of the league's top defenses. The cold weather thing is ridiculous, this would be a no brainer. All that said we probably can't afford him and it'll never happen...still.

I want Brees. If all Jet fans donate their pool covers we can put a temporary roof over Metlife. Where's the billboard guy?

Agree to disagree.....when that cold wind is swirling in Nov/Dec everyone will change their tune. Just leave him in the dome where he belongs. No way would I move our 6th overall for him A lot of people said the same thing about Mr. Forehead playing in denver. A great qb is a great qb. We're not winning anything other than a wild card spot, at best, with what we currently have. That's actually a great comparison - those people would appear to have been right. He hasn't and won't win a SB for Denver (or anywhere else again). Year one lost SB, year two, didn't make it to the SB - will be surprised if he gets to the playoffs this year.

He is unwilling to restructure which is why they need to get rid of other guys left and right. I think he'll regret letting Graham go. At this point in his career he seems more interested in the money than winning.

If there's one single move that would make us legit super bowl contenders the second it happened, it would be brees for our 1st. No one legitimately believes this team is doing anything with geno or fitzpatrick. You put a guy like brees around this current team and you've got instant contenders.

I wish I could find the clip where Gruden shows how the Saints O-line gets out of the way and creates passing lanes for Brees where he can just barely see over the heads of the olines and dlines if he stands on his tiptoes. I just don't see our Oline capable of making those accommodations for him and especially with three of the toughest dlines right in our division. Payton had to work some magic to resurrect Brees's career and I just don't think it's that easily transferrable to a different system.
