Underinflated balls? Meh. What's the big deal? You're only tampering with the complete focal point of the game. I mean the name of the game is football. You play with one of those objects. Who cares if it's been tampered with? It's like saying it would be a big deal if a team moved the goalposts back 10 yards every time their opponent was kicking a FG....no biggie.

If this is the only penalty for pumping in crowd noise......we better not lose a draft pick b/c of Woody's stupid comment. Some dumb reporter on NFL Network yesterday was saying Woody's "tampering" was a much more serious offense and would likely be punished harder than the Falcons. Interestingly enough, she talked about the Falcons, the Browns and the Jets, but no mention of the penalties and severity of the Flats**** deflating footballs and tampering.

Exactly! Totally unfair. The Falcons should get a compensatory pick, say round 2 or so, as an apology for not being warned of this until after the fact. Then a wrist slap and firing of the audio guy, but that's it. Oh and let's not forget to amend the rulebook to specifically point out that the Falcons are not allowed to pipe in crowd noise. No amendment needed as there already are strict rules about noise. You guys really should read up on the rules. Are you referring to the NFL rulebook, or the Patriots rule book?

Are you referring to the NFL rulebook, or the Patriots rule book? The NFL has rules covering noise. They also have rules covering ball inflation. But who really actually follows that? That's so boring.

Rule book doesn't state that if balls are found to not conform to the rules, that an investigation will find the sole person responsible and punish just that person. It says "team".

If that person is employes by the team I understand, yes the team should be punished.

If that person is employes by the team I understand, yes the team should be punished. See...there's a reason why the rules are not written like you would like them. Take ball pressure for instance (just a random instance). HOW THE HELL IS THE NFL TO DETERMINE WHO THE FUCK IS RESPONSIBLE? "Well sir. Nothing was caught on tape. I guess we go to let this go"... Umm no. That's why it's the TEAMS RESPONSIBILITY to provide regulation equipment.

Why the hell do you think the Falcon team is being punished?

Why the hell do you think the Falcon team is being punished?Of course its the teams responsibility. But there are stories out there that an NFL official was switching the game balls out and selling them on the memorabilia market. If an NFL official did such a thing can the NEPs be held responsible? If an NFL official tells a ball boy to use the ball, should he have doubted him? I cant say for sure what happened, neither can you. All I saying its lets wait and see what the outcome of the investigation shows.
