You mean the guy who started getting the shit smacked out of him once fighters in the octagon figured him out, and then tucked tail and ran back to "Days of Our Lives" for men? Exactly! Lesnar won the UFC title by beating a 47 year old man who he outweighed by nearly 40 pounds. Once he started fighting guys who are in their prime, he started getting clobbered and he got out. He went running back to fake sports with his tail between his legs. Don't get me wrong, Lesnar is a world class wrestler (REAL wrestling). But he basically just relied on a size and power advantage (had to cut MASSIVE weight every fight to make the 265 cutoff for heavyweights...guy walked around at 285-290 for fuck sake) to dominate for his first 4-5 fights in the UFC. The dude had ZERO stand up game. If you could keep him standing and throwing punches, he looked like a mindless fucking gorilla who had no idea what to do. And that was his downfall. Well, that and not being able to take a punch to save his life.

MMA is all the over top theatrics of WWE and all the stupid bullshit of boxing.
UFC's biggest star is Rhonda Rousey by a country mile. After that, it's losing the shine on its star big time.
UFC may be a sport over WWE, simply because the bouts aren't scripted, but the top athletes in the WWE match up, if not surpass, any guys UFC has. Strictly from an athletic stand point, not talking crossover.
All that said, UFC is a sport about as much as NASCAR is. Very similar in the intensity and size of their fan bases and very small casual fan base.

Tell that to Brock Lesnar. If you are a true die hard MMA fan, you should thank pro wrestling for helping MMA get some main stream popularity in the mid-late 90s. And you know damn well they did.

No...wrestling has just reached a level of super goofy proportions in which the level of element of "suspending belief" has become fucking impossible. I was a huge wrestling fan from the late 70's until the late 90's. Wrestling was at it's peak when you had Sting vs the NWO in the WCW and Steve Austin vs McMahon in the WWF. It was just as fake as it's ever been...but at least it was really, REALLY entertaining. Now? It's totally suspended that belief and become totally absurd. The UFC, I would argue, was even more badass during the early 90's. You had both ends of the spectrum. From bar room brawlers like Tank Abbot looking to take dudes heads off at every turn, to the super cerebral approach of a Royce Gracie. Now? It's become a LEGITIMATE sport. With wrestling? It's just become a bunch of silly bullshit. The sport (and yes, I'd consider it a sport, even as scripted (and flatout goofy) as it is) never evolved. I don't deny that you have to be an athlete to do what those guys do about 300 days out of the year...but it's just...well...silly. To the extreme these days.

You are 100% correct that pro wrestling has not evolved as it should. You are also 100% correct that the UFC was a million times better in the early days. When it had guys like Frye and the Shamrocks and Royce Gracie. None of that stuff has anything to do with the fact that WWE gave UFC a huge, huge boost when some of their early stars, Shamrock, Severn, Abbott crossed over to pro wrestling and got more main stream exposure for UFC than it ever did on its own. That's not even mentioning the fact that WWE actively advertised UFC pay per views on their shows.

I'm well aware of what happened. The guy basically ate nothing but red meat like a fucking T-Rex. But that's pretty goddamn stupid when you're talking about fighting the greatest mixed martial artists in the world. In fact, it's pretty damn stupid...period.

Not mentioned in that statement is the FACT that Brock's presence in UFC 100 helped gain over 1,000,000 buys(GSP helped, too). In fact, in just about every UFC PPV that he was in, the buys were pretty higher than normal. So he basically brought the eyeballs(and main stream exposure) and helped make the UFC even more main stream than it was before.

In fact, it's pretty damn stupid...period.I don't exactly follow what you mean here. Yeah he fought a 47-year-old(was he 47 then?) Couture for the title but he had to go and win it, UT. Randy wasn't just going to hand it over to him unless you're going to start accusing a UFC HOF'er of taking a dive or something..... He did successfully defend the belt TWICE against better competition(Mir, then Carwin), though, before running into an absolute eater-of-worlds named Cain. You can downplay how he was successful in the UFC all you want. The fact remains that he was not only successful, he was the UFC Heavyweight Champion and that's not what a lot of current UFC fighters today can say.

Did you just TOTALLY skim over my previous posts? Brock Lesnar is a word class wrestler (aka REAL WRESTLING) The guy was a fucking NCAA champ. When you have a motherfucker that big, that powerful and that SKILLED hammering down on your ass...then yeah, it's going to cause some major problems. But when you negate his takedowns and make him stand ON HIS FEET...he becomes completely mediocre. No, scratch that...he becomes totally beatable...and then some.

Hey, I never said pro wrestlers aren't athletic, I said WWE is not sports. And it's not.
