Poor bastid...24 year old kid with obvious talent and smarts gets thrown to the wolves to head a sinking ship. Lets surround him with backups and horrible coaching? Great Plan!! I support Geno and think he will surprise many this year! Media and fans giving constant beating I think is unwarranted. Heres to a great season... enjoy the ride!

Btw Geno looked way better than Mark Sanchez did his last season and half! Difference is the Team and organization were crumbling around him.. I think hes kept his chin up through very shitty times...not at all blaming anybody else...just being up front? I wanna see what he can do with a normal situation around him?

Actually he was almost identical to Sanchez. Couple good games a lot of horrible ones. bad throws followed by bad ints, holding the ball to long, taking bad sacks followed by bad fumbles. The thing you can take away from it is that Sanchez and Geno had to deal with the same issues; bad WRs corps, team turmoil, a lot of injuries, and a coach that can seemingly not develop a QB. I liked and defended Rex a lot but I think his biggest mistake was how the QB position was handled. Then add in how Tanenbaum and Idzik didn't help at all with their WR picks it was a recipe for disaster. All that said, Geno supposedly had a chip on his shoulder for being passed over in the 1st round and hasn't played like that at all. He is now surrounded with grade A talent and it is his time to sink or swim. No more excuses. I wish him the best but I am not convinced that he is the guy yet.

Agreed, Sanchez started his career with the best oline in the league and a strong running game, in his 2nd season he also had better receivers then anything Geno has had since he came here. He also had the support of the leagues best defense that could turn the ball over and put the offense in good spots. Geno came straight into a team on it's ass, yet he's still flashed potential. I will say this aswell, Geno has always moved the ball freely between the 20's, Sanchez the 3 and out king could barley complete a pass over 5 yards most of the time. And before you say it, I know Sanchez was better in the redone. Anyway, I agree with the mindset it's put up time for Geno, get it done this year or turn it over to Petty next year.

I don't think we had the best defense. We were nowhere near as physical as a team like the Ravens or even Steelers. We played like soft punks. But Revis made up for a lot of it. Our D line wasn't all that back then. Mainly when big Jenks would lose his knees. Now he stays healthy and we may have had a sb

Meh i dgaf about stats. I watched that defense. They were not nearly as physical and imposing as if like to see. Especially without 77 in there.

I think the op is right in a way along the lines of media giving him more crap than he deserves...yesterday there was a tweet from some media guy that said something like, 'for what it's worth, Geno threw back to back darts outside the lines.'
why preface that with "for what it's worth?" Any other QB has the praises of his arm sung for those throws, the media makes it seem Geno did it by mistake. I hope he's mentally strong this season and can concentrate on the field.

It can't be easy being told by your own fanbase and every media outlet that you suck giant donkey balls. This is why I think he answers questions the way he does, he's defensive, how the fuck he keeps any confidence at all is beyond me. That's why I root for him, because of all the shit he gets.

I wanna root for him. I sure would love it if he doesn't suck! I do think he is better than Sanchez even tho he does some pretty dumb shit, but I think geno can change some opinions with gaileys help.
