The Jets are 3-1 under Fitz going into a bye. When was the last time the Jets were in this position going into the bye. People still on this board are not happy. I'm fine with Fitz maybe his arm sucks but he wins games doesn't throw pick sixes. Last year this team was 1-3 I rather have a weak armed 3-1 QB than a 1-3 rocket for a arm who makes stupid throws any day.

Remember Cutler couldn't get any thing done with Marshall even though Cutler has a rocket arm. Cutler and Geno are ver similar QBs. Who is to say Geno would have more results with Marshall. Geno couldn't get it done with Decker and Harvin who are both adequate. I say sit Geno until the team is no longer playing at a playoff caliber level.

Additional statistic to note: Through 4 games Fitzpatrick has taken 2 sacks. Those two sacks both came on botched snaps. The OLine is materially the same as last year, except that it is one year older. What has changed? The QB.
Reading a defense doesn't just happen after the snap, like people hate on Geno for. It happens before as well. Fitz knows how to read a defense (better than Geno), and audibles his OL to cover differently. Comparing only the stats shown on the 10th page of this thread, Fitz would be the worst of the QBs in the AFCE. Just two sacks is incredible.
Also this is only semi-related, but earlier we were discussing the deep ball limitations and how Geno has that advantage. Does Fitzpatrick read this board? That first drive yesterday spat in the haters faces and may have violated pfizer's patent on viagra.
*Edit: Phrasing

It looked like he was throwing a javelin and was just floating up there. Im very appreciative of hiks contributions this season and that weve won three games, but the long ball is not his thing. Honestly, he even Chad threw a better long ball - i can remember the spiral to Santana in the playoffs (San Diego?).

Just re watched the game, if Ivory does not have a career day this game would've been a different story. Fitz had a few nice runs and a few nice hook ups with Decker including the TD, but he was awful for the majority of the game.

If the team is losing this year with the same starting receivers, it doesn't matter the record when Geno gets his chance. If he can't score touchdowns with decker and Marshall he sucks a fat one. Russel Wilson has put up far better numbers with no receivers. Our OL seems to protect the QB when Geno is not playing. Why do you have such a hardon for Geno. He has had only one or two good games in his career.

Honestly, he even Chad threw a better long ball - i can remember the spiral to Santana in the playoffs (San Diego?). +1 Fitz has done a good job for a guy with his limited skill set, but I don't think a team can be anything but average with him at QB. He is not accurate and has a less than weak arm. Everything needs to go right for a team to win with him. Like Marshall forcing a fumble on an interception in the red zone against Cleveland, the entire Colts Secondary getting injured, Miami losing its top CB and the rest of the team (except Landy) refusing to play for the HC. Face it, the 3 Jet wins all should have been blow outs, but in every one the opponent was still in the game because the O can not put a team away. More importantly, the 3 teams the Jets have beaten have the 27, 30, and 32 ranked D. The Eagles have the 22 ranked D. I watched the Cards-Rams game yesterday and I can confidently say that either of those D's would keep the Jets under 10 points. Let's see how Fitz looks against the Skins after the bye. They have a top 10 D right now. I'm not saying Geno is the answer, but I'd like to see if he has improved at all since Geno at least has the "tools" Fitz will never have.

I guess there is something about a dude with a great arm, 4.5 40, and good height that makes you want to see if he can figure it out... Especially when reports from camp had him looking like a diff guy. Bowles and Fitz have made lemonade here and its very refreshing, but there is a reason Geno had won the job until ik broke his face...

Furthermore, Geno can't even manage a game. He is terrible in the red zone and he gets sacked a ton compared to fitz with the same OL. All those measurables you listed were physical and if all it took to be a great QB was physical measurements Michael Vick would be the best QB of all time but he isn't. Results on the field matter and decker Harvin and ivory are good enough to have an average offense, yet the jets had one of the worst offenses last year. Geno only deserves a second chance when Fitz blows his chance. So far fitz has turned this team into a winner, something we haven't seen in a long time. The odds of Geno winning the Super Bowl are about the same as the odds of Fitz winning it so I see no reason to switch things up. This isn't madden. Long throws don't matter as much as this board says.

BUT i do wish we could find out how Geno would play with this oline (Carpenter has been great) and Marshall, who cures a lot of ills... If you look at Genos numbers with and without Decker last year...

If you look at Genos numbers with and without Decker last year... Agreed. I just think the margin of victory is so big that I can't remember the last time we beat up on teams so badly. We're not eeking out victories. We're crushing bad teams as we should. I have all the confidence in the world that Geno will get another chance. There is no way Fitz keeps up this streak but we should ride it out while we can to rack up wins. If Geno has to wait until next year then it means we had a good season. But if we put Geno in too early with a good record and Geno screws up then we've wasted another season of fandom. Besides, Geno shouldn't need too many games to show he can play with better talent... Maybe 3 or 4.
