So why not just do that with everyone's salary and create a billion dollars in cap room? Because it pushes more of his cap hit to later years. Basically kicking the can down the road. Yup. We basically increased our cap charge by $600K for each of the next two years. Considering that we were at or below $1 million in cap space (depending on which website you look up the cap on). we really had no flexibility if we need to sign someone during the season. Painless way to generate a little bit of space with Folk.

Darryl Slater @darrylslater 4m4 minutes ago #Jets' emergency center on Sunday will be Dakota Dozier, per Todd Bowles. Connor Hughes @connor_J_Hughes 6m6 minutes ago Muhammad Wilkerson, Leonard Williams will NOT be limited at all against Cleveland. At Princeton's pro day, Catapano ran the 40-yard dash in 4.75 seconds on each attempt. He had a 37 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-8 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.31 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.09 seconds. Catapano threw the bar up 33 times on the bench press (225 pounds). Currently 6-5/ 290... From everything I've read from the Chiefs board he has a relentless motor, violent hands and a quick burst.

The way Folk has been kicking I wouldn't be surprised if he might be cut after this year - would his cap charge then go away?

No, if we cut him next season, we would have a $1.2 million cap hit. $600K the season after that. That is the downside to restructuring the contract -- adding to his signing bonus increases the guarantee which is allocated to future years.
