Why anyone would want to see Petty thrown into the fire this year is beyond me. He is clearly not ready, and the track record for throwing guys, with this steep of a learning curve, to sink or swim is not good. Lots of people hate Paperface and can't stand the mental mistakes he make. Yet there is a section of our fan base who want to take the same development strategy with Petty, who is arguably farther behind where Paperface was as s Rookie. Terrible post. Petty is much father along than Paperface was at this point. I have no doubts whatsoever that Petty could start this season and lead the Jets to the playoffs. Add another poster to the forum that has no idea what they are talking about. Or a troll. Either way,.

it's so hard to say if a guy is ready to play qb coming right out of college. the step from college to the nfl is huge. it's hard to imagine petty being ready. on the other hand he was a 4 year guy so he had about as much qb experience as one can get in college. the jets also have some really good players and it would be a shame to waste their season if there's a chance petty could get the job done. this team is built to win now and it was going to take was the qb play to be adequate.
imo fitz needs to get his shot. he played well enough for the texans last year and only lost his job because of injury. he could probably do just as well with the jets. the big knock is arm strength so he won't be able to pass the jets to wins. gonna be interesting.

Totally, I've heard Petty is as far as 3 years from the field.

I almost don't want to see Petty play the preseason because you know if he has a few good drives it will only entice people to call for Petty as the starter once Fitz has a bad game. I don't see Bowles caving to fan pressure. I just don't want to read twenty threads on it after each game. LOL give me a break. When has this actually happened in the past? You're just making up bullshit off the top of your head. Any time any player has a bad game there's twenty threads created by dipshits like you demanding the team put somebody else in at starter.

Bryce Petty will be the guy but not this year he needs time to develop. You throw him in now and you will have to draft a QB next year.

It's the same blah blah blah I have been listening to for years now, lets give Simms a shot, lets give Callen a shot. The jets QB position is so fucked up year in and year out that people are always calling for the 3rd stringer to be the savior, even me in the past. I am done with this bull shit, bring back Farvvvre.

Mariota's first 2 series 2 turnovers. Just imagine the uproar if we had drafted him and he did that for us. Cut the bum, he sucks, I knew we should have drafted (insert name here).

Idk what you guys were watching petty mechanics were bad , he armed a lot of throws , his foot work really needs help, what the coaches were saying from camp were right, really needs help with decision making and footwork , he does look comfortable in there except when the guards got him killed that one play , how ironic...

So how does it happen that a young 3rd round pick who you think needs development time shines so much that you dump a vet who you just hired for big bucks? It happens because that guy (wison, Wilson, something like that) shows so much half way through training camp that you know it's not a risk to put him out there.
Has that happened with Petty? If it had would Bowles be looking for another back up vet? No and no. So why do these morons waste our time with idiotic speculation that magic will happen if you throw him on the field to get killed in the real season?
Articles like this are beyond annoying.
