Geno Smith- QB - Jets
Jets coach Todd Bowles said he is comfortable with Geno Smith starting this week against the Texans.
"I’m fine with him starting," Bowles said. "He’s made great progress. He’s learned a lot under Ryan. He threw the ball well in Oakland for the most part. So, if he has to play, we’ll just keep on moving." The Jets expect Ryan Fitzpatrick to be able to play just nine days removed from thumb surgery, but Fitz's status will not become clear until later in the week. Geno should get most the reps this week in practice.

JJ will fill in for him. That's why Geno will start. Let Watt wear himself out beating Geno half to death then bring in Fitz.

I know most, if not everyone is currently on the Bowles train, but personally I need to see more before I officially anoint him as the savior of the Jets. Don't get me wrong, I'm behind the guy, and in spite of a few rookie mistakes I really hope he succeeds. As of now, his honeymoon period with the Jets is still in effect, but that only lasts so long. Stating the obvious, during the last few weeks, the Jets have come out unmotivated, low energy, and quite frankly have been an embarrassment. In my opinion the Geno experiment is over, and he can hit the road at the end of the season. Hopefully, his statement of support for Geno is forced by the situation. If he really is comfortable with Geno, then that's just one step closer to the end the honeymoon for me. Also, I hope his low energy demeanor is not rubbing off on the team. Personally, I like to see a little enthusiasm and energy on the sidelines. I know a demeanor comparison has been made to Mumbles Belicheat, but there is an underlying energy to Belicheat, and players know if they screw up, they're gone. So while Mumbles is not super high energy on the sideline, his players perform because of the hell they will pay if they screw up. Hopefully, there is a lot going on behind the scenes with Bowles to motivate as a quiet leader. I guess time will tell.

You know bowles smashed a table and put his fist through a screen in the Cardinals locker room right? He is not a punk. In fact hes the opposite you knock on his door yelling he politely lets you in then locks the door and rips out your neck. Hes that guy down to his dress code and demeanor he would fuck somebody up for real i seen him angry this season walking to the locker room. Straight gangster head down shoulders swinging short furious steps

I appreciate the insight into his personality, which gives me new perspective. I was worried his sideline demeanor was the same at practice, and the locker room. I was beginning to get worried, that he was a mild mannered man. I guess I should of suspected that there was more than what I was seeing given his former tenure in the NFL.

Not sure what all the commotion is about. He is the backup QB. If Fitz cant go or gets hurt he is next in line.
How is this news?

I guess time will tell. frankly neither fitz nor genot is the savior the jets need. genot doesn't seem to have his act together and fitz is physically limted. this doesn't mean they can't win with either guy but it takes a concerted effort game in and game out to do so.

Not sure what all the commotion is about. He is the backup QB. If Fitz cant go or gets hurt he is next in line. How is this news? Bowles should be saying things like, "I'd rather go without a quarterback this weekend, but I guess we'll try Geno out there." And he should be saying Genope. And he should raise his fist to the sky every time he mentions him. Actually until he personally re-breaks Geno's jaw, I'm not going to commit to him as our coach.
