The news here about Fitzpatrick not practicing yesterday contradicts previous reports that he did. I guess the idea is to keep the Texans guessing First I'm hearing that Sheldon was hurt in Thursday's loss to the Bills, and ten days off may not be enough time to heal And Cromartie didn't "miss" the Bills game. Well he was on the field for most of it, anyway And Milliner OMFG!!! He finally gets healthy and now he has an "illness"?!? The Texans best WR could be out (Yates' favorite target LOL) and the 'analysis' barely mentions that Jets Did not practice: S Dion Bailey (ankle), QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (left thumb), C Nick Mangold (neck, hand), CB Dee Milliner (illness), DE Sheldon Richardson (hamstring) Limited participation: CB Antonio Cromartie (quadricep), WR B Drago (toe, ankle), S Calvin Pryor (ankle), CB Darrelle Revis (hip) Full participation: WR Eric Decker (knee), CB Dexter McDougle (hand, ankle), RB Bilal Powell (ankle), CB Buster Skrine (shoulder, hand) Texans Did not practice: LB Akeem Dent (hamstring), WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee), QB Brian Hoyer (concussion), RB Chris Polk (hamstring) Limited participation: LB Jadeveon Clowney (back), CB Kareem Jackson (ankle), CB Johnathan Joseph (calf) Full participation: LB Max Bullough (shoulder), DE Jared Crick (ankle), CB Charles James (foot), C Ben Jones (thumb), K Nick Novak (right thigh), LB Brian Peters (hamstring), WR Nate Washington (hip) Analysis • For the Texans, the Hoyer concussion could mean T.J. Yates starting Sunday. Houston's quarterback situation has been a mess this season. The Texans on Tuesday claimed quarterback Brandon Weeden off waivers from the Cowboys, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Hoyer is questionable for Sunday. He got hurt Monday night at the Bengals. • For the Jets, Fitzpatrick expects to start Sunday, despite undergoing surgery Friday to repair a torn ligament in his non-throwing thumb. Jets coach Todd Bowles said the plan all along was to mostly rest Fitzpatrick on Wednesday, and let him throw a little bit. Fitzpatrick didn't take snaps Wednesday. The plan calls for increased practice action Thursday for Fitzpatrick. Bowles played it coy about Fitzpatrick's status for Sunday. But barring a setback, he'll be fine to play. • Don't go nuts over that Revis injury. It's "not very" serious, according to Bowles. Revis will be fine to play Sunday in Houston, the coach said. • Bowles did not mention Mangold's hand during his Wednesday press conference. That's a new injury for Mangold, in terms of its listing on the report. Bowles said Mangold didn't practice Wednesday, but didn't bring up his hand. • Richardson hasn't practiced yet this week, but he said he's "optimistic" about how his hamstring might heal. He said he should know more Friday regarding his status for Sunday's game. He said he's hopeful right now. He got hurt in last Thursday's loss to the Bills. Bowles said Richardson's hamstring ailment is "probably serious," and that he's going to be a game-time decision Sunday. Bowles said Richardson likely won't practice Thursday, but could practice Friday. • Cromartie missed the Bills game, but said he'll be fine to play in Houston. Bowles said he'll feel good about that if Cromartie continues to progress Thursday. Pryor, another important player in the secondary, said Monday that he'll play Sunday. And it appears he's moving steadily in that direction. • It looks like Powell will return this week from a sprained ankle. He last played Oct. 18 against Washington.

You'd think a guy who hasn't played in 13.5 months wouldn't let anything stop him from getting back on the field. Then again, when you're constantly getting beat by 5 yards, maybe you don't want to rush it.
