Does anyone here use a service to remove their snow, like where you are on contract and you don't have to call, they just show up after it stops snowing? What does it typically cost, for instance like for the last huge 24 incher we just had? (Asking for a friend. Thanks).

for instance like for the last huge 30 incher we just had? Must not...must not..must not... I pay a chooch about 200 a year and in theory he comes for anything over 4"....if it doesnt snow he wins. Sometimes he doesnt get here very quickly after a big storm...because he prolly has 60 customers on the hook, and two trucks. Keep in mind its a 200 foot driveway clearing, thats it. All depends on your property. Its a second home.

We've had a service for years...worth it in Buffalo, especially the 2 years before this one...
I pay $400 for the year..Nov. Thru April 15th. If they come out 10 times or 30 times the price is static.
They plow when we have 2 inches of snow, and sometimes come back twice depending on wind and drifting.
I had a commercial snow plowing business in the 90s and it's a tough way to make a buck.
Make sure she contracts with a reputable company.
I also heard on the radio here that there is an app for snow plowing service when needed...a lot of companies are on it so if they have a guy nearby they take your card information only after you see a picture of your driveway plowed..
So there are a few options.

Oh it's "reputable" alright. It's the same company she uses for lawn mowing in the summer. The bill came in the mail after the storm, and I guess it was for one time removal though I'm not sure. It said snow removal 22" $600 and 'salt application' $60. That seemed a tad, um, high.
The Uber style app sounds interesting though I could imagine with surge pricing you'd probably get exactly that situation where everyone is calling and they can gouge you.

Are we differentiating between "removal" and "plowing" here? Either way, that does sound high. Guess thats why you take your chance on a contract that would cost less than 600 for the whole season. You could also get no snow and the guy pockets 2-3 hundy for doing cock.

I guess the difference is with option A you pay thru the nose if and when it does snow but with option B you pay less, up front? And take your chances?

You know who I blame for this? Lazy ass teenage kids. Back when I was that age, me and my friends would work the neighborhood after a storm. Great way to make money for sneakers, pot or Hustler. Now kids have free porn on the Internet. And parents just buy them all of the other shit. Lazy bastards.

$600 is a lot, unless your driveway has 12 turns and 1/4 mile long.

Paid my guy in the fall ( I think it was a little over 2 hundred). He hasnt done a single driveway for one customer yet. We havent gotten any from the coastal storms that dumped on NYC, Jersey etc. He's getting over... .this year. However last year, he was here about 5 times...at least, so I got over. It all evens out I guess.
