I hear ya, but if the CS thought that Geno was worth another look, they wouldn't have drafted Hack. Another way to look at it is if they didn't think Geno was worth another look, they wouldn't have risked losing Fitz. I like the way they played it, but if Denver offered him 2 years 26 million, he'd be gone in my opinion. Obviously they don't value the veteran QB mentor aspect all that highly. Plus, I think Mac is in draft a QB mode until you know you have the guy. Fair point. Bottom line is none of us really know what they think of Geno or Petty. Time will tell as the offseason continues to play out.

I'm at the point where I think I'd rather have Fitz not come back. He was fun to watch but his ceiling is two to three floors below the Super Bowl. Start Geno, and let's see him play with his hair on fire for 8 games. If that doesn't work, bench him and go to Petty. No you want Fitz so Hackenberg can sit this year and learn how to be a pro QB in NY. Exactly. Couldn't agree more. I have been vocal about not being a fan of Fitz because he is a mediocre QB. But he is a smart guy and a good mentor. He would be a good influence on both Hack and Petty. And if he is signed, Geno is a goner.

Geno....Petty....Hack.....ONE of those guys has to eventually be a decent NFL starter, right? I mean even a monkey throwing random darts at a board eventually hits the bullseye accidentally, right? Right???

I don't want to take up a roster spot with Fitz at the cost of seeing if Geno might be the guy. I don't think he is, but I want to see him get one more shot. Hire Pennington to mentor these guys.

I think tomorrow is where we see Macc trade down and at least try to recoup a 6th rounder.

You know what my problem is? I never saw this coming. I should have, but I didn't.
Because Macc tricked me.
He baited me with the whole "cleaning house" of the old guard in the scouting department. Bastard knew what he was doing. What was I thinking , of course the jets would be the team to bite on Hack! Lynch wasn't even in the game. Classic soj.
Shame on me, and shame on you Macc.

I understand where you're coming from but give the Jets regime a chance. From what I've read Hack is a smart cookie and is no stranger to going under center, something a lot of these college QB's aren't familiar with. It's not glass half empty time yet.

Lots of good players left. I'd love it if the Jets were able to land Billings.

Get me some OL help next - Haeg, Beavers, McGovern.
Then a TE and a WR with return ability in the 7th.

I wasn't sure he would be on the board when we made our pick Thursday night, and now he is still available on Saaturday. i really like the player, but we need to do something with the OL today. Hawkins or Beavers today would be really nice, or even a guard like Westerman or Alexander.

Will the Fitz people please give it up. Unless Fitz and Sexton are willing to eat Crow and take what the jets have offered, he ain't gonna sign. And I don't see that as being even remotely possible.
Plus, in the long run, the jets gain nothing by playing Fitz. This whole veteran QB to teach a young QB how it's done is absolute bull. Great QBs are leaders not followers. If this was the formula every team would use it. You learn how to play QB in the NFL by playing. If your talented and smart enough to learn how to play well and lucky enough to play for a smart coach with talented teammates, you succeed. This is the difference between Terry Bradshaw and Archie Manning; and Brett Favre and Jeff George, not whether a young guy has a mentor.
