I love everything I hear about this kid but his accuracy issues...I love the mentality, the physical specimen that he is, etc...but his accuracy issues bother the hell out of me. Even during his pro day and at the combine he still sucked in that area. Someone compared him to pennington but with better health..unfair pennington had better accuracy. I don't know what to think yet on him plus he was/is a big brady fan.....lol let's hope that once we improve his footwork his accuracy improves. Accuracy starts in your feet for a Qb at this level. The CS at Penn messed it up pretty badly. This is something that a decent athlete can fix with proper coaching. I am not saying he will be a 70% passer but I think he will be able to get to 60 or a bit better. More than enough to win us games. Uh oh prepare for Lithfan rant LOL

Finally found the picture I was talking about a few weeks ago when I knew Mac wanted Hackenberg. Look at how focused Mac was. Lol Macc has a Hardon for Hack no doubt about it. Had one for Petty too and traded up to get him.

Pennington had a brain, no arm.
Geno has arms and legs, any brain or leadership?
Hack seems to have an arm, a brain, and the loyalty to stick with PSU despite sanctions, issues and Saban calling.
The only questions are whether Hack's regression was his fault or his coach's and whether it can be fixed?

In fairness, coming out of Marshall i thought Chad's arm was fine (not a gun but workable), but post injury it wasnt there (though i do remember a rainbow bomb to Santana in the playoffs even after his first injurt). Agree totally with the sentiment of the lost though.

The work ethic and the brain are what I love. Anyone think Geno, or even Petty, left school after the football season to work as hard as Hackenberg did? The kid has always felt he would eventually be just like Tom Brady on Sunday afternoons. He labored through two tough years at PSU with little talent around him, a revolving door to the OCs office and a HC who had earned his bones recruiting rather than strategizing. There is no one you can compare him too because his college experience is truly unique to him.
He can now put that all in the rear view mirror. I'm very excited about his chances and feel that being a great NFL QB may just be the fulfillment of his destiny.

Some poster on another sports forum is claiming that he has connections to a "draft guru" & claims that Hackenberg was #2 QB behind Goff for the Patriots & #3 QB for the Redskins. Also Browns wanted Hackenberg to fall to them at their next pick after we chose him. Could be bs, could be true. Just putting that out there.
Wouldn't have surprised me if Patriots drafted Hackenberg round 2 (they ended up drafted a QB in round 3 if I remember correct) & all the media call them geniuses. Talking about the comparisons of Hack & young Brady. Mannerisms & all. Our luck would that he'd be the next coming of Brady & shred us for another 15+ years.

That could have been awful....he would have gotten 3 years to sit and master an offense similar to the one he ran at 18. And TB12 would have passed on all the cheats...

My sister is at Penn State, I have watched a lot of this guy over the past few years. I would be really really really shocked if he becomes a competent NFL starter, but what do I know?
Wishing him the best, scouting is weird, I trust Mac.

Wishing him the best, scouting is weird, I trust Mac. The offensive line was horrible. Even the the head coach Franklin said it wasn't just "kind of an issue". Hackenberg was lucky he wasn't seriously injured.
