New York Jets @nyjets 11s11 seconds ago .@bmarshall on @genosmith7: "There was a sense of comfort and confidence...that's what stood out to me today." Eric Allen @eallenjets 2m2 minutes ago Brandon Marshall on Geno: It seems like the game has slowed down... He seems to be growing & that's a good thing for all of us. So the guy who was the clear #1 last year before Punchgate looks more comfortable and is growing into the position. To hell with the journeyman at the end of his career who blew his load in the most important game of his life and is trying to cash in on a miracle season...give me the guy who still has potential, not the guy who showed us his ceiling last year only to find that it still wasn't high enough.

Geez. What if the light bulb is finally going on for Geno? If the mental aspect of his game ever catches up to what he can do physically, then Maccagnan might actually have some thinking to do. Geno has always had Top 10 physical tools to be QB, but has been too slowly climbing the mental ladder from the bottom rung of QBs in this league. If maturity, experience and understanding Chan Gailey's offense finally comes together after a few years in the league....look out!

A big part of me agrees with this, especially since we're heading into a year with a much tougher schedule and I think we're looking at 8 or 9 wins tops regardless of who the QB is. I think we need to know what Geno Smith is really capable of before we cast him off into free agency at the end of the season.

With continued reports about how well Geno is doing, Fitz will be more apt to cave and sign. Of course that's a catch 22 cause when Fitz comes back, Geno goes to the bench and we never get to know what he could really do. Now...what if Mac Daddy has balls as big as an elephant and decides that Geno has shown enough to pull all offers to Fitz. Now that would be badass....

Hackenberg has routinely had trouble with throws getting away from him for two years now. Hopefully Gailey and Patullo are hammering it into his head to clean up the high throws. Like Jetrepulsive said before... That almost never happens. And TBH I don't expect it to happen in this case either. I saw that about him and I didn't like it. You either have accuracy or you don't. It's almost like he has depth perception issues but it's usually an over throw. Gruden noticed it too and got on him about it. Almost never gets fixed. It will be his downfall. Probably why Obrien wasn't interested.

I really hope he pulls the offer and only offers an "elite" backup contract. He came as a backup last year and was gonna remain a backup til Geno got clocked. He deserves absolutely no rewards for that pathetic display in Buffalo. He can come back up Genope and compete for the starting job. Or stay the fuck home.

So with sailing throws high consistently, what aspect of incorrect footwork is responsible for that? Anyone know?

So with sailing throws high consistently, what aspect of incorrect footwork is responsible for that? Anyone know? I am far from an expert. I played the position at High School in a town the size of one NYC neighborhood. That said, from what I know, and with my baseball pitching background, which is more extensive, is that overthrows or high throws can often be tied to over striding or weight transfer. If the stride is to long the ball can sail. If weight stays too much on the back foot, same thing.

How hard is it to change tgat? This stuff interests me.

When he was dropping from center in college at the start he had excellent distribution of his weight on planting and torqued his go through his throws. Then for some god forsaken reason they fucked with his footwork and mechanics and you see more of the arm only throws with his weight not transferring from his plant foot to the forefoot.

i was a QB...and i always thought my overthrows were because i 'pulled the string'...meaning i choked....best medicine was practicing 1000's of times on my throws...
