NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick is not expected to re-sign with the Jets before the start of training camp on Wednesday.
The Harvard man is committed to hardball. Of course, hardball works better when you have actual leverage. Until/if a starter gets hurt elsewhere, Fitz is essentially negotiating against himself. With bitterness having set in, Fitz could sit out for quite a while, but the Jets remain his only realistic destination.

OK.. lets forget the names involved here for a second (Fitz & Geno)... Fucking training camp starts tomorrow and the guy who started 16 games for us last year not only isn't going to be there, but he's on the street...
Enough of this shit. This is ridiculous! The implications of signing a QB like Fitz well into TC carry far too much weight. In march, signing Fitzpatrick could have blown up in Macc's face with little to no blowback from the franchise or fanbase... but now? Missing TC camp time, no offseason with the team.. Throwing 12-14 million at this guy in the middle of August is entirely different situation. Now, based on the way Mo Wilk went down, it's entirely possible something gets spit tomorrow morning - and it better if this guy plans on being in Green and White this year.
If I'm a coach (not a GM who's job it is to handle the business) i have to tell my team who they need to get behind tomorrow morning. How can I sell Geno to the offense if everyone just thinks the other guy is going to show up in 2 weeks and take over?
