Yes...the Jets D could really be special this year. Secondary should be improved with another year together. Jets still have a quality shutdown corner in Revis. It's not like he fell off the roof last year. With some of his critics implying that Revis Island be sinkin. You can bet Revis will be on a mission to prove those doubters wrong. So even if his island is getting smaller...IMO it's still afloat! Skrine and Marcus Williams should perform at least as good-solid...if not better...then last year. If McDougle stays healthy, he should be a positive contributor too. Now Milliner...lol! From a skill set point of view...he was a legit top 10 draft pick. He had shutdown potential. But from a physical health standpoint...he's a freakin train wreck! If he can survive TC-Preseason and start the season healthy....it will be the first time he's done so. A healthy Milliner playing a full season could be huge for this unit. The Pryor-Gilchrist tandom playing a second year together could be a force. With Pryor having the potential for a breakout Pro Bowl type season. LB units have added high motored youth and speed talents with Mauldin-Lee-Jenkins to go along with Hitman and Henderson. Who knows...maybe Trevor Reilly can be added to this mix too. What the young players lack in experience can be made up with spirited speed and hustle play. The entire core of LBers can maximize their impact due to the fact they are playing behind Beasts like Wilkerson, Richardson and Williams. IMO...Leonard Williams will be an animal this year. It's those three Sons Of Anarchy on the DL...that sets the table for a potential special Jets D. They're the ones who close the case for that possible conclusion...period. Didn't one of the Sons leave for the Midgets? Jets need Williams to avoid the sophomore slump especially if Wilk is slow to recover from that broken leg.

If we go into the season with Breno and Winters manning the line, Fitzy is going to end up pancake batter. Winters will be fine and I don't consider him a weak link. He finally has a set position and he has the talent to take it to the next level because the skill set is there. How many fans wanted too write off guys like Slauson and Moore because they sucked. Once we lost Slauson every Jets fan wanted him back. Moore was raked over the coals by Jets fans as a bum when we tried to sign Kemeato. How did that turn out? Winters IMO is in the same boat, that he is now realizing his potential....guy can move, is nasty, and athletic for a big guy. His skill set and the dreaded word....potential, is better than both Slauson and Moore. He's the classic guy that has 50 good plays a game and then inexplicably has the two bad plays that all of us fans focus on. He needs to be better, but at least it's in his DNA to take that next step. I agree about Breno. The only green goggled support I can give is that he's not Wayne Hunter or James Brown. You left out Anthony Clement.

Sorry - don't see it with Winters - his pass blocking is atrocious.

Didn't one of the Sons leave for the Midgets? Jets need Williams to avoid the sophomore slump especially if Wilk is slow to recover from that broken leg. Yep...Snacks went down the rabbit hole to the Munchkins. To compensate for the loss of Harrison, Jets acquired the capable veteran Jarvis Jenkins. A career starter who had 4 sacks last year. David Harris broke his leg in the last game of the 2008 season. Next year he was back playing his usual game as the Jets D became #1 in the league in Rex Ryan's 1st year as HC. In the late 2014/15 season Fitz broke his leg, and was then traded to the Jets in the offseason. Fitz ended up having the best season of his career. And one of the best in Jets history. So I'm not worried about Mo's recovery process. And IMO Leonard Williams play will start emerging into Beast Mode this season. As I see it...if the Jets defense can stay reasonably healthy...it should be one of the top D's in the league. And potentially one of the best in Jets history. I hope I see it right

Article kinda pumps me up, a bit. Jets have needed upgrades to the LB corp for quite a while, and Jenkins, Mauldin, and Lee seem to be legit prospects. Both Mauldin and Jenkins seem to be high motor high energy players, which I love but I also worry about their inexperience and if they will end up over committing to soon or just get out foxed in general. Correct me if I am wrong but Mauldin seem to be more of a role player last year charged with a task more then an every down player who needed to react? Lee has me concerned with his size as I am used to seeing bigger thumper players at MLB in a base 3/4, I've read his type of skills is the new thing in modern NFL defenses. I would of expected a different player at his pick. But word is he is a stud and we know he is fast in a straight line, if nothing else I expect better coverage out of his position. I'm also hoping Pryor can build on last season and justify his draft pick. The D line should be just fine even with out Snacks. The CB's need to step up their game and limit those big plays deep. All in all, there is reason to be excited about this unit. Those stats listed in the article surprise me as the secondary seemed like the weak link last year, and in general with all the resources Mac poured into it they were overall kind of disappointing. To the point where didn't the offense actually perform better than the defense? true enough about the corners but it all starts up from. get the pressureon the qb and the corners have it much easier. upgrading by launching coples and letting pace go is a plus not to mention finding a replacement for cro. cro was good but not last season. imo a real key will be if milliner and macdougal can finally justify their draft pick. milliner has a ton of talent but he jsut hasn't been able to stay on the field. maybe this is his season. the bottom line is there's a lot to be excited about with this defense. they are better than last season and that's noting to sneeze at.

QB situation aside......I really believe in this Defense!!!!!!!! It will be our saving grace.....We're looking at top 2 D potential if everyone stays healthy.... we're bringing back a lot of starters and getting younger/faster where it's needed SHAME!
