1977 was the last time we fired our GM and HC at the same time.
Decades of half measures.
Might explain why we have sucked for so long. GMs inheriting bad HCs and bad GMs getting to hire too many HCs.

It is the right way to go if you are going to clean house then really clean house but that is only a small part of the battle. Now you have to pick the right GM and he has to pick the right HC and he has to pick the right Coordinators and staff. I am also hoping that there are changes in the personnel department starting with getting rid of Bradway as he has been involved in our player decisions since 2001!!!

Woody moved quick this morning, Casserley has had a head start, I just wonder if they have someone lined up.

But the initial names for GM's that are coming out who have extensive player personnel experience is a step in the right direction.

I truly believe that we will benefit from "addition by subtraction" in many areas of our coaching staff and scouting dept. I do feel good about having football people apparently running the search and guiding Woody.

GMs inheriting bad HCs and bad GMs getting to hire too many HCs. Excellent point and appropriate especially for this case. Because of his boisterous personality, Rex's stamp was to be found everywhere throughout this organization. A clean house (Bradway too please...) is the only way that the next GM/Headcoach combination will have a grace period to get their footing. Otherwise, there will always be an undercurrent of Rex lovers still in the organization. Furthermore, this is the ANTI-Gatorade. The players celebrated big time yesterday at the end of a 4-12 season. That must never happen again. 4-12 is a disaster and today reminds players exactly how bad this season was (instead of the bullshit best 4-12 team ever line that Rex sold to them). BTW--If Cortland is out, how about Stony Brook (where I work...since the Jets are all about me anyhow...).

not true. When kotite left in 1997, parcells came in to assume both roles.

And wasn't Kotite hired as both GM and HC? So that was a clean sweep also...

I think it's great how the players dumped Gatorade on Rex yesterday. The team played hard for him and it showed even until the very end. I am glad they won yesterday and I am glad Rex went out in style.

What about Bradway/Herm. Granted Bradway stepped down and Herm was "traded" per se, but it did allow us to promote Tannenbaum who handpicked Mangini.
