I don't understand the excitement over these picks , the chances of this player actually contributing and play good is ridiculously small. 100% We should just forfeit the pick. Why bother. As a amtter of fact, we should probably forfeit ALL of our picks after the 3rd round, you know, because "the chances of this player actually contributing and play good is ridiculously small". And also forfeit our 2nd rounder because we're traditionally bad with those. Geezuz fuck. _

Btw, great move by McCagnan cutting Jarvis Jenkins before the time when it would have cost us this comp pick.
Very shrewd.

That's cool. We don't have a 4th right? So this should cover that up.

Some of the players taken with 5 picks or so(on either side) of 107 the past 5 drafts
Kirk Cousins Devonta Freeman David Baktiari Malcom Mitchell Jeremy Langford Jameson Crowder TJ Cummings Nigel Bradam Ladarius Green
Yep. No talent there.

Good news. If we could get a 2nd for Sheldon now, there might be a flicker of excitement in me for this draft. I would settle for a 3rd, and with the way we tend to use our 2s, we might be better off. That may be the stupidest thing I ever read. I'm sorry... I meant to say "That may be the truest thing I ever read." #onlythejets

Now, trade Sheldon for a 2nd or a 3rd and we're in business.
I could deal with a 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd in this Draft. Lord knows the Jets need all they can get!

Oh, and we should obviously use that 3rd on a long snapper!

Great. Can't wait to see what horrible player the jets take with this pick.

This just shows you how bad our management has been thru the decades. To call this move "shrewd" illustrates all of our terrible expectations that Jets' management will always be incompetent and make the wrong move. "Shrewd"? It's his fucking job to know the rules of Comp pick eligibility, including the timing restrictions on when a player no longer counts as a Qualified Unrestricted Free Agent. If he didn't know or utilize those rules correctly, he'd be incompetent and such ignorance would be a fireable offense. Shrewd? Gebeezuz! All it shows is that he was up to speed with how eligibility works. I expect such competence at a minimum. I'll leave "shrewd" off the table until Mac does something exceptional. Not just barely competent.

Not just barely competent. I want team management to improve to the point where we are not calling a simple, ordinary strategic move as "shrewd". It wasn't shrewd. It was competent. Not releasing the bum before the deadline and thereby losing the opportunity for a comp pick would have been incompetent. I guess as Jets fans, we all say "hooray" for mere competency. And that's because we are so accustomed to perennial incompetence. Our standards are very low.
