There are a lot companies that have similar or better retirement packages, the company my wife works for is one example. There are good vs bad when it comes to public employment. No you bitch a lot about govt employees. But don’t worry when the private company guys come in the first thing they do is contract out services. Bringing up Obama does not help your argument, Trump won and nothing has changed. Nothing will change.. the swamp is concrete. I don't know of any companies that still have a defined benefit plan AND a PSP with a match where you can retire at 55.But if you say so. OK. Ive never seen one in the last 20 years. I am NOT bitching, I could care less really. It affects the poor so much more than the upper class. I can't retire at 55 but my company does do a 401k match at 6% and gives a pension plus other great benefits like being able to pay to stay on the company health insurance after retirement. Honestly I am not sure what the youngest I could retire with full benefits is.

I currently have a 401k with match, and a small pension from a previous employer (who ironically is trying to get us to take a lump sum distro this summer).

I know several people who have "unlimited" vacation. None of them take more than four weeks because the unlimited part of it is an illusion.

Honestly good for them, I do not begrudge my friends and family for the perks of their gigs. I just get tired of CPA constant bitching and it is pretty obvious he has limited interaction with others in his real life.

My point is that plenty of companies offer "unlimited" vacation as a perk, but absolutely no one would ever take more than four out of fear of abusing it. So it's a fake perk.

I would imagine less than 1 percent of the workforce has that. The average I have seen for a person with 10+ years is 3 to 4 weeks. But as dick head said.. what do I know. I only manage money for about 300 plus people from all walks of life and industries and don't see much variety. Very few outside of government have any pension greater than $3,000 a month. In fact, I don't have any that have a pension greater than $3,000 a month that have retired in the last few years and these are wealthy people. The "rich" pensions of IBM days are almost all gone.

You manage their money not their vacation or benefits. My wife works for a company that gives her exactly what you said you haven't witnessed in over 20 years. 300 clients is great but there are a lot of people who work for a lot companies.

I'm positive that the "unlimited" vacation thing was created after they did research that revealed that 99% of people who have "unlimited" vacation take much less vacation than employees who have a set amount of vacation days. You are totally right. It's a BS made up thing. I think it would be hysterical to get a job where they offer "unlimited" vacation and as soon as the interview is over and you get offered the job, tell them you're taking off the next 3 months.

Company I used to work for had "unlimited" sick days but you could also work from home and we're basically shamed into working from home instead of taking the day unless you were dying. They killed the policy under the next management regime.

Trump is funny. Was watching his re-election rally on CNN (I guess they decided to cover it to try and boost their horrible ratings) and he’s calling out the fake news and the crowd starts chanting CNN sucks (on CNN!)- then CNN cuts away from the rally coverage after a few minutes. He totally makes the MSM look like such stupid biased fucks. 😂
