RIP John Geils. Death Stinks. Your band put on one hell of a live show. Saw JGB open for Bob Seger at MSG last year. It was my first time seeing them without Geils. They still put on a great show. I always thought it was funny that he got kicked out of his own band. He even sued them for continuing to use his name.

He even sued them for continuing to use his name. He didn't get kicked out... he left. Decided he wanted to play jazz and basically didn't want the rest of the band to be able to use the band name. From what I have read, apparently John Geils secretly trademarked the name without letting anyone else in the band know but the entire band had signed an agreement years earlier that basically nullified his trademark.

John Mellencamp got kicked out of the John Cougar Band and had to go with John Mellencamp.
True story.

What are you, President of the J Geils Band Fan Club? I love seeing good love bands and JGB always put on a kick-ass show. I've been a fan for a long time. Plus about 9 years ago, I was front row at a JGB show and Wolf grabbed my camera from the stage and took a picture of me and my best friend. Turned out to be the last photo of us together as my friend passed away not too long after. Just added to how much I liked the band.

And I don't know why I said last year for JGB because it was a few years ago. I think it was either late 2014 or early 2015.
