There's no benefit for him to come out and say anything one way or another about what happened. Between the terrible roster, terrible draft picks, terrible record and his apparently terrible management style, Idzik will have a tough time finding work in the league. The best thing he can hope for is for people to forget who he is. He might get a job as a capologist or something egg head like. Maybe but who would want to take him after the way he performed here? He didn't mastermind any great contracts or score great value on any contracts. He just said no to a lot of players and underspent on the roster. There's no skill involved in creating cap space by drafting terrible players and picking up the dregs of FA.

It would have to be as a cap guy. No football skills, no interpersonal/communication skills...what is left? How much of it is him? Maybe he really thought he could do the job, but he obviously didn't have the experience? Is it more his fault, or more of Woody and the Jets taking a flyer on a candidate that was unproven in the personnel side of the house? Hell, if they interviewed me for the GM spot, I'd be telling them everything they wanted to hear. If they offered my the GM spot, I'd take it. Doesn't mean I have a fucking clue on how to run a professional football team. If they couldn't see through my BS, it's on them, right? Look, I hate Idzik just as much as anyone for setting this team back years. But someone thought he could do job when he clearly could not. Thank good for Casserly and Wolf this time around. Couldn't agree more. I think he had the right strategy (spend wisely, look for bargains, build through the draft), he just couldn't execute on it (lacked experience in dealing with smart agents and made lousy draft choices) and he was stuck with a head coach that couldn't develop players, established a loose culture and made tactical errors every game. The Revis trade and Sheldon pick were shrewd moves and made me think he knew what he was doing, but everything went downhill after that. In retrospect, he was in over his head. He may have been the best Woody could find, since anyone with any experience and credentials, turned him down when Rex was part of the package. Most smart football people realized that Rex was not a good head coach which is being proven this offseason when he will not get another job and will be on ESPN, CBS or FOX by the time the Combine rolls around.

There's plenty of work out there for him as a bean-counter; one thing he definitely was good at. He cleaned up our cap inside a year. If he'd know a thing about managing a roster and drafting, we'd actually be in a great place right now.

He should apply for a job with the Mets. He would fit right in with their frugal spending style.
