He is actually amongst the best in the league based on stats, despite the few shanks that he has had. He's young, we have bigger fish to fry.

He doesn't pass the Eye Test for whenever I see him, I see him either kick SHORT ones, get blocked, or shank it. Frankly, I find it astounding that he's among the best but then again, when the rest of your team sucks on offense you're going to get plenty of PUNTING PRACTICE every game.

Definitely doesn't pass the eye test. And I was surprised by his stats bc they aren't bad. I think he is untimely which makes him look worse than he is.

His numbers are good, but he seems to have that one shank every game that leads to points for the other guys. I would like to see us upgrade P next year, but there are definitely other more pressing needs.

WAY too many shanks this year. The other day he had a punt of 27 yards. Sheezz, I could do that with my hip replacements, lol

None of the conventional stats really measure the value of a punter. I am sure there's some newfangled one - but just looking at what's currently available I'd say that a percentage of how often a punter puts one behind the 20 is a good shorthand for how effective your punter is.
By that measure, Sam Koch in PHI is having an awesome year. About 55% of his punts are within the 20.
There are a couple of other punters who hover around the 50% mark. And that would be the top tier for this stat.
By comparison, Quigley's 'inside the 20' percentage is only 29% - putting him solidly in the 4th quintile for this stat. So not great.
To Quigley's credit - his punts generate a good percentage of fair catches and a low amount of return yards.
All adds up to league-average if you ask me. We certainly have bigger fish to fry. And last time we all got crazy about our bad punter (Weatherford) he went on to have two superlative years with the Giants.

Either Quigley or the ST coach needs to go. I prefer Quigley, as he seems to come up small when it really counts.

STs have been a weakness all year for us -- especially after that shitshow on Monday night. Out of 4 punts, 3 went for less than 30 yards. We were penalized on three of the four Dolphins punts on the night. Add the two Folk misses and this is a loss that was on STs. Assuming the CS will be overhauled, I don't see any Mcgaughey is brought back. Let the new CS make the call on Quigley.

I still don't get...to this day...why Robert Malone was not brought back. You can always count on him to boom punts here and there and more often than not, do the job required of him. I mentioned earlier how Quigley didn't pass the eye test...well, Malone did with flying colors. So I'm beginning to think there was more to not bringing him back than just "football"-related stuff. Maybe he pissed off Rex or something.....

Well Malone is now out of the league. So, I don't think he was exactly misjudged if no one has judged him worthy of a job.
