Bryce is my one McCown is two Hackenberg is 3. In my opinion Petty throws a better football.. more catchable. In a short time in the preseason I have seen him calling audibles and reading defenses has made huge Leaps and Bounds. I know the offense line was atrocious when hack started last week and I'm not saying he doesn't have a future but something tells me that Bryce Petty is getting fucked by our coaching staff and he's going to go someplace else and have a decent career.

I don't give a flying rats asshole who starts
It's clear that this team is going to be picking in the Top 3 regardless and either Darnold, Rosen, or Allen will be a Jet by the end of April.
This is the most disinterested I've been in this team in forever. I'm already looking forward to next offseason with $80 million to spend, a shiny new QB and maybe even a change at HC and GM.

Well I'm hoping they are just trying to piss him off by holding him back cuz he definitely has a better armed than McCown obviously has taken a huge step and reading defenses said he loves the West Coast system and as much as I would love for Hackenberg to do something it seems strange that they would put out a quarterback and be switching the offense of line in and out when that is supposed to be the most cohesive unit on the team? A lot of this just doesn't make sense

Bryce Petty sucks. They all suck.

The only logical reason that they could be treating the QB position as they have the last week -- with McCown getting almost no reps in practice and none in the game -- would be if the competition for starter is between Petty & Hack. Based on what I have seen of the two, I agree that Petty should be the guy.
But these are the Jets. Logic does not usually enter into decisions. I still expect McCown to start to open the season.

If McCown starts week 1 I will officially turn on Mac and Bowles. Where's the sense in cutting every vet to start a youth movement only to have them led by a 16 year journeyman backup QB?? If this happens it proves Bowles is clueless.

Petty is the guy the Jets least want to see succeed and start. Good on him for fighting through getting 3 reps a practice to force them into giving him a better shot. He is far better than Hackenburg. Unless inured mccown will start. Sooner or alter all will see action this year as the offensive line is so utterly trash.

I agree that McCown is likely to start, but I just don't get what they are doing with the QB position. McCown got no reps in the Lion game, and by most accounts got virtually no reps in practice yesterday. Is this any way to get a new starter ready for the season? I expect McCown to start, but based on the last few days I think there is at least a glimmer of hope that it will be one of the two young guys. And if it is, I think Petty is more ready for the opportunity than Hack.

Do we get anything back on the cap if we shockingly cut McCown?

Do we get anything back on the cap if we shockingly cut McCown? Nope. Entire $6M base is guaranteed. We could trade him and save the hit, but cutting him would save nothing against the cap.

If this happens it proves Bowles is clueless. They also have a journeyman RB who's on his last leg in Forte. Dalvin Cook better not turn into a stud (which he probably will) or taking another Saftey in RD 2 will be up there with other jet draft day hilarity like Pryor over Brandon Cooks and Kelvin Benjamin. Alex Van Dyke over tony brakens. Or a million other boneheaded picks. How can Macc get away with the putrid state of the offense - not a single playmaker. Not one. He has had 3 years to improve the O and it is currently the worst in the league. Maybe in forever. Great article in yesterday's post about how the jets probably won't be as bad as the 1932 Cincinnati Reds (yes, there was a pro football team with that name) who only scored 10 pts all year and folded (went out of existence) with 3 games left in the season. Hilarious that the Jets may be compared to them. Here's the story: nypost.com/2017/08/21/jets-at-least-can-find-solace-in-forgettable-piece-of-nfl-history/amp/

I'd rather they start Hack thus ensuring a winless to maybe one win season. If they start Petty he'll probably pull out a few victories and in the process derail the tank job.

Yeah, I see Tom runnin' down a dream of starting with the Jets. At least we know he won't back down. Even when he's free fallin'. Plus, Hack is no better than a refugee.
