Being that he has previously stated he had not decided if he was staying, I'm surprised the Yanks didnt give him the option to say he left on his own, rather than admitting he was basically fired. Sounds like there was a rift afoot and I wonder iffin we will ever see him return as a guest.
Bittersweet, I dont think he was a bad guy, but I dont know how well he was dealing with the younger players that are now comprising the Yankee line-up. I know the Yankee Triple A manager Al Pedrique works very well with younger players and effectively managed many of the newer stars, but he is nearly 60....so who knows.

Terrible decision.
Hope they dont go the whole young hip manager bullshit route. Most of those guys are way to soft for NY. Yanks are loaded in the minors, would hate to have these kids become marshmallows.

I was listening to the new Met manager gushing about how he was going to "care" for his players and I thought, holy crap dude, lay off the Ecstasy. Thought he was gonna start dry humping the first dude to walk by in cleats. Common

How about Willie Randolph for the Yanks?

Just read the Yanks are seriously considering Horace Clarke for the job. Possibly.

Stick Michael was a great GM, maybe he can work some magic from the dugout.

He is in a perfect place right now. Would be awful for both parties.
