MIght be a good idea to just end practice now. These joint scrimmage practices have always been stupid IMO. You mix it up with other teams in the pre-season games. Don’t see the point, really. With no more two a days I kinda like it. Gets guys focused. Remember when Rex used to send someone in to start shit? Was it Wayne Hunter?

Meanwhile Belidick makes it known every year when the Pats do these joint practices that fighting won’t be tolerated. And they’re easily the most disciplined team in the league.

Jets have the talent to easily be one of the Top 5 secondaries in football. Let’s hope the DL can put some pressure on the QB. Because I don’t see us getting much production from our OLB’s. Unless we make a trade for Fowler or somebody. They lack depth though. Tru is solid. Claiborne runs hot and cool and not likely to play a full season. Skrine is okay in slot, but not if he has to move outside. After Skrine, they are all question marks. Jones, Roberts, Burris, Nickerson, Robinson... How many teams really have great "known depth" outside of the starters at CB? I think we will be fine there barring a catastrophe. Glad to hear the comments about Leonard Williams against another team. Also some good info on the rest of the D-Line. Need Luvu to step up and be the OLB pass rusher.

My concern though is that we are so thin that we may not be able to go 2 to 3 deep. Johnson should be fine, but behind him, Claiborne has been an injury risk his entire career -- playing 15 games twice in 6 seasons. Good chance he will miss some time. Skrine has been a lot more durable throughout his career, but he is already dinged up and has had a concussion history. Then we have a bunch of jags (Burris, Roberts) and unknowns (Jones/Clark/Coleman/Nickerson).
I am encouraged by the training camp reports about Jones & Nickerson-- and I thought Jones played well against Atlanta, but can we really count on them to take a bigger role if Claiborne goes down, as he seems to every year. To me, its not catastrophe, its expected. Some of these bottom of the roster guys are likely to be forced into bigger roles -- hopefully they prove they can handle it.
I would feel a lot better if we added a guy like Bashaud Breeland to the mix -- not sure whhat his deal is or why he is still available.

Pretty sure he failed a physical and he hasn't been in any talks since. Not a good sign.
