Rhule was a Penn State linebacker and 3-time Athlete-Scholar - played four years under Paterno. Not a bad way to start......

Who else interviewed Rhule? No one this year as far as I know. He got an interview with the Colts last year before withdrawing his name. Then they chased McDaniels before ultimately winding up with Reich.

My sources tell me that no matter who Macc chooses as head coach, 97% of people here will hate the pick even if they actually like the pick. Jets can gall all the way.

Rhule turned around Temple and Baylor if you consider 7-6 record and finishing 5th turning around he has no experience developing a QB no experience working as a coordinator in the NFL with exception of being a offensive line coach he has no NFL experience perfect candidate For the Jet brass to keep that status Quo going. I expect 100% this guy to get hired by tonight or tomorrow morning.I know as long as the Johnson own this team we have no chance of ever getting a big name coach. Its been this way since Parcells left town.

One good year at Baylor? Convince me. Turned two programs around and with some signature wins. Coached quite a few players into the NFL from Temple. And was apparently offensive play caller as a HC. 2013 Temple 2–10 2014 Temple 6–6 2015 Temple 10–4 Beat Penn State for the first time in 60 years. Went to championship game - lost 2016 Temple 10–3 Went to championship game - won. 2017 Baylor 1–11 2018 Baylor 7–6 - Beat Vandy in Texas bowl.

Rhule would be awesome provided that he could put together a quality staff. Guy has coached all 3 phases of the game, has 5+ years of offensive playcalling experience, has a great reputation as a leader and disciplinarian type, turned around 2 different programs, grew up a Jets fan with the stadium right outside his window, etc. I like him more than McCarthy in a lot of ways. Has the potential to be a figurehead type in the John Harbaugh/Bill Cowher mold.
That's great that he was a Jets fan growing up and all but he's still yet another ROOKIE NFL Coach with NO PROVEN TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESS (as an NFL HEAD COACH).
Yes, you put up all of what he's done - did pretty well as HC of Baylor/Temple - but Head Coaching in the NFL(as opposed to Baylor/Temple) is still going to be a job he has to learn as he goes along.
While I won't be pissed if he is signed, I would feel that Macc would've dropped the ball here when someone like McCarthy(A SuperBowl Winning NFL COACH) was still available.
This Franchise will never learn.

his Franchise will never learn. It's also a question of what McCarthy wants though. Jets have been burned and burned repeatedly. They may want a typical 4-year deal to keep their options open. If McC is asking for some Gruden-like deal - that could be a bridge too far even if the Jets are leaning towards him.

He actually wants the job (his judgement I guess isn't great), but the idiot fucking GM won't give him control of the roster. So, Chris Johnson is going to let the worst GM in American history who can't draft, can't sign FAs, wanted Kirk Cousins for 90 million, get in the way of hiring the most proven coach available and going with someone unknown Baylor coach? Great. Perfect Jets. Idiots all the way.
