Just hope the Johnsons don’t sign that GM the Texans fired. Last GM we got from the Texans was a shitshow

With the Texans firing their GM now, waiting for the media to call them a joke too....
End of the day, the Jets got their guy who is universally praised.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but.... why did JD take this job? What's secretly wrong with him? Remember the old Groucho quote " I don't care to belong to any club that will have me as a member."? yup

Your odds of being offered one of the historically well run franchises is slim. If somehow, Douglas can win a championship here, he will become a legend in this town. Plus there is a core of damn good players here including a young franchise QB. Yeah, there’s a lot of holes but this team could be damn good in the not so distant future. Or he could be dumber than Idzik.

Let’s see if the jets can have a press conference that isn’t an embarrassment and if Douglas actually doesn’t sound like a fucking idiot like the last 2 GMs.

I hope he walks into the press conference with a Dunkin Donuts coffee in his hand so the fanbase can all collectively lose their minds.

Or he could be dumber than Idzik. I'm betting on the former. He helped the Eagles win a Superbowl... come to the Jets and turn things around, and you're now a front office legend. I have a feeling they gave him a pretty good budget to hire his people too, with the reported negotiations that were going back and forth. These guys arent like us fans; you get a chance to be a GM, 1/32, you grab it, and there's worse situations than the Jets out there... 6 year contract with a 2nd year potential franchise QB, and some other decent pieces in place? If he fixes the OL and finds some cornerbacks, its not the worst reclamation project in the league.

O line was not good and not truly addressed. Especially at the center position. Cornerback is thin and Johnson had a poor year last year while getting a boatload of money. Still do not have a #1 receiver.
Can the team overcome these? Sure. If Darnold keeps progressing, If Bell has a solid year after sitting out a year. If Johnson can play like a #1 cornerback. And most of all, good coaching. I am always the eternal optimist. I hope we have a great season. I just need to see the signs.
