Why are the Jets fucking with this kid, he's just asking for what they gave Sam. Pay him and get him into camp. He wants his signing bonus in year one. Team wants to spread it over two years. I don't give a shit, just sign him before Thursday. [br They gave it to Sam within 15 days of signing. Just give the kid his money. I dont give a fuck if it's a different GM. Both were picked third.

why defer his signing bonus?? Isn't it guaranteed? If the Jets spread it out they get the interest on the unspent portion. Shit could get ugly if the agent starts asking why Sam got it fully paid out and Q isn't getting paid. Hope the new gm thought about tha. Pay the kid already.

STFU sign the contact and play ball If he gets his signing bonus in a lump sum now, like Sam did, he pays Alabama tax rate on like 26 million dollars. If they pro rate the bonus, he pays the New Jersey taxe rate on 75% or 19.5 million. Thats gotta be over a million dollars I would think. Why shouldnt the Jets give him the exact same deal last years 3d overall pick, Sam got. I'd hold out too. The Jets are being assholes.

Dudes about to be set for life if he plays his money cards right, and hasn’t played a snap. Be greatful your in one hell of a position 99.9% of the population will never be in, and sign on the line. Don’t be a dick. That’s the problem today. Everybody thinks they deserve everything without doing anything. If it’s a million they’re quarreling over, then put that million in the contract as incentive bonuses.

I can see both sides but I have to go with the player on this one. Really the Jets can't give the kid is SIGNING bonus when he signs? Seems like a dick move.

from THE Gang Green dot com www.theganggreen.com/2019/07/24/gase-makes-bold-prediction-as-jets-report-to-campWhen pressed on Williams' absence, Gase called it part of the “draft process” and seemed unaffected by the prospect of opening camp without the top pick. "When he gets here, he gets here," he said. According to various reports, the issue is the team's desire to defer the payment of some of Williams’s signing bonus into his second season. This would cost Williams around $100K, as he's still a resident of Alabama where tax rate is lower than in New Jersey where he will be residing in his second season.

Any salary cap issues with giving signing bonus all at once or over two years, or does signing bonus count as prorated over the life of the contract?

Plus interest assuming he would invest most of it.
