For the majority in this poli forum all agree with the current President’s position in regards to America first, none of you should have a problem if China funds and rebuilds the Bahamas.

The Bahamas soon will seek billions in foreign aid after Hurricane Dorian, and the Trump administration is considering the national security implications if China rushes to help.

Why it matters: China has projected power around the globe through its infrastructure spending, and this will create an opening for massive investments just off U.S. waters.

Sources tell Axios that the U.S. is working with Bahamian officials to help them navigate the bureaucracy to pursue avenues of assistance.

Administration sources say it's too soon for detailed conversations on how the China rivalry could play out in the hurricane's aftermath.
But officials involved in diplomacy, national security and foreign assistance understand that will be part of the equation after the initial response.

I don't think any "America First" thing extends to humanitarian aid to the Bahamas or elsewhere.

I'm also not really seeing the national security issue if China is strictly sending money to help rebuild. We're not talking China establishing military bases there?

Puleese. I know one of the principles of this site. He is a never Trumper who retweets everything and anything negative about Trump. Not saying we should not worry about China globally, because I believe we certainly should, but this is a crazy statement.

I'm all for helping the Bahamas - in fact, we are already are and have sent aid/troops to help evacuate seriously injured residents to hospitals immediately, even diverting resources from the U.S. once we saw the devastation in the Bahamas and it became more clear that the U.S. would be mostly sparred the worst of it). I also think that Britain should step up big time since the Bahamas are part of the British Commonwealth.

Scaremongering aside temporary tariffs on Chinese goods would not F us. Surprisingly there are many other places to buy from and where companies can manufacture goods. There is already a swing to move manufacturing out of China. China is a problem in many ways and undermining an attempt to reign them in because it is Trump doing the reigning is short sighted and harmful to the country.
