So I wake up, pour me some nice warm coffee and read the news to start my Sunday. I ignore the Political stuff, already too aware of all that.... -Article one, Flat Earthers are a Growing Group. -Article two, people are desperate to know the sexual orientation.....of the Disney character in Frozen. I browse away from the news. I think that's enough for today. This world....

Unfortunately, modern medical science keeps the morons alive, too.

What paper are you reading? Arguably this is more about what fake news non-journalists/Editors consider newsworthy, than what some flat-earther or Disney enthusiast believes. There is very little objectivity, competence and respect for the tradition of real journalism left in papers once considered heavyweights in the field, imho.

It really is about what some Flat-Earther believes in 2019. I'm not going to defend the state of journalism, especially political journalism, today. But Flat Earthers ffs? The rejection of science and embrace of conspiracy theory in our culture is just ...disturbing, IMO.

Because the "news" now has to have an element of entertainment to it. They have essentially become content creators.
And the reason why the Frozen characters sexuality is "important" is because there will be outrage no matter what the orientation ends up being. So they cant lose.

Everything is political. A few years ago, some dipshit food critic in Newsday found a way to take a shot at Bush in a restaurant review.

Anything about Jeffrey Epsteins peddling pedophilia to rich and powerful people? Is that "Political"? See what I mean? Distraction, deflection and Trump is Orange bad man.

Someone posted a video/interview a few years ago.
It was a journalist from the Nixon/watergate era and he was stating his concerns about the modern press in the Obama era.
What stood out to me was his following observation: in the Nixon and previous eras...all the politicians knew the press were bastards. They were bastards to all parties though. It was understood. In the modern era, theyre only bastards to the Republicans..." and that was before Trump was in office.

^Not so^
They buried their heads in the sand with democrats (except Gary Hart) Roosevelt and Kennedy, and initially with Johnson. It was only when the populous went to the streets did it turn on Johnson. They dumped on Turman simply because the wasn't a Roosevelt toady and he wasn't supposed to be President. BTW, Truman held a similar hatred for the press as well.

Don’t blame networks for making the news into trash. For profit networks just give the people what they want.

It's not news per se, but it IS something that seems to be growing in the internet/youtube era. Populations willfully turning their backs on facts and science. Forgive me if that is something I don't support. Distraction, deflection and Trump is Orange bad man. Nope, not touching Trump talk with a thousand foot pole. Nope, nope, nope.
