If he declares, I would draft him.
Hyperbole aside, he looks to have the football instinct and mind naturally. And he has all the measureables you'd want. Some of those reads and throws yesterday - well in both games - I was just thinking 'wow - that's a play I see Rothlisberger or Flacco make'.
Mariota is a skilled player - but he lacks moxie and fire to my eyes. Just IMO.

I have no idea where he'd go if he declared, but that kid has ice water in his veins. He looked so calm out there even when things weren't going great. Never saw the happy feet of a nervous QB and stayed in the pocket and only broke out when it was required. He keeps his eyes down field and tries to throw first. And holy shit is he strong when he does run.

It would be interesting if he does decide to declare for the draft. He does have things you can't coach, size, arm, and appears to be able to control his emotions when playing in the big games. His limited film is going to make it tough, but I was thinking the same thing watching him the last 3 games. More mobile Roethlisberger maybe??? who knows.

Hope you're not talking about anywhere near the first four rounds.

Doesn't sound like he is thinking about declaring.

I kept calling him Blacklisberger yesterday.

Hope you're not talking about anywhere near the first four rounds. Oh I would definitely grab him with a 2 or 3. He's not a day-1 starter - but what is not to like here? Another year of what we saw these past three games and he's the #1 pick in the draft. He soundly out-played and out-matched the guy who is a virtual lock to go #1 in this year's draft. . . Besides the fact that he's got about a 1% chance to declare.

Well he's not going to start at Ohio State next year anyway, if I was him I would declare for the draft, might as well. His stock probably won't go any higher than it is at the moment. He'd be worth a shot in the later rounds; you can't coach size but you can coach everything else once you get him into a NFL system.

I don't follow college enough - but you think Meyer can sit him next year despite the performances that he had? He looks like a lot more than a 'hot hand' IMO.

I'd take a flyer in the mid rounds on him, sit him and let him learn from the sidelines.....I like what I've seen the last 2 games. Good poise and he has the tools....

Way too small of a sample size. He was coached up perfectly by Meyer and was asked to make few decisions on the field. His RB ran for 700 yards and 8 TDs during his three games. He should transfer to an FCS school so he can play right away.

I would draft him. Like his story and how he's beat the odds in his personal life growing up. Lot to be said about that. Man, what an arm. The size is what I like in a Quarterback. Players just bounce off him trying to sack him. It's amazing to me how some under class men perform so well in big games. Were seeing this happen where recievers are now gaining 1,000 yards their rookie season. Quarterbacks leading their teams to Super Bowls their second season. Younger, bigger, stronger. Wow.

I'm pretty sure you need more than a handful of games as a third-string backup before you decide to declare for the draft.
Regardless, he'll be playing on Sundays down the line. Strong arm, fast and powerful runner. Good downfield vision and accuracy. Another year under Urban and another NC shot and he'll definitely be first-round talent in 2015.
