The man Peart was and is one of the all time great rock drummers. Total beast. RIP-NHWRF
Could never dig the band tho tbh.
Also... To compare them to FLOYD...

One can argue that Rush surpasses them in many ways simply because they're musical talent is significantly better. I will say that Floyd is probably the better songwriting group, and definitely better vocally. |

I'm not a Rush fan, but you can't debate Peart's prowess behind the kit. 1) Peart 2) Greiner (August Burns Red) 3) Carey (Tool) Funny how one band can inspire so much dissension, lol. I came to appreciate Rush later in life but admittedly, when I was in HS, the following had cult like followings; The Dead, Rush, Bruce Springsteen. The cult members were insufferable dooshes so I went out of my way to go the other way and double down on my Zep/Floyd/Stones/Beatles path. Never gave the others a chance until years later and came to appreciate tunes from all of them. I know from my friends who are true musicians how important Rush was and I can hear with my own ears how powerful a drummer Peart was. That he was also their lyric writer and a fascinating guy was gravy. |

I think Guitar, bass, and definitely drums, Rush was superior. Nothing else. |
