Fuck. I have a buddy of mine who does masonry and patios. Had jobs lined up for months in advance and now all gone. Im hearing some nightmares here in NY. People filling out their application online and being told to call the hotline to finish their process. When they call it just says the phone is busy and to call back. Days on end. Im seriously considering a relocation after this. Seems like when the shit hits the fan its always like 10x worse in NY. Things are getting bad here in Michigan on that front. The governor just extended the stay at home order to April 30 and added a bunch of new conditions and restrictions on travel. Luckily, I am fairly safe so far with my cushy uni. job, but that could change come fall. The people that work in the auto-industry will probably recover and the union people will get enough help to get through this til the factories re-open, but this is going to hit small businesses here very hard. I got a long email from the lawn service I use (small locally owned company, thousands like it around here), basically saying that if they couldn't start work by April 13, they were going to be seriously fucked. I'm not saying that having my lawn cut is essential (if i thought it was the wifne wouldn't have had to hire someone to cut it on a more regular basis than I did and I don't own a kenmore), but when Joe's lawn service goes out of business, Joe can't send his kid to college for me to indoctrinate, err, I mean teach. This shit is so intertwined... Same goes for all of these small restaurant owners... Yeah. Thats one of the problems I have had with this the whole time. The people ordering these lockdowns live a completely different life than Joe the landscaper or Joe the plumber. Their government jobs and pension are going nowhere. You wonder if they were at-risk like other people if they would be making decisions differently.

Yeah....we already had about 8 installs already lined up...which is unheard of before the warm weather hits. Was looking to be Bossman's best year yet. And then pfffffttttt. Shit sucks. Hope he is able to recover from it, but I dunno. He's still keeping 2 other guys busy with odds and ends...but I voluntarily considered myself expendable, just because I can get a job anywhere. I am kinda liking unemployment tho. First time I ever collected it. Pretty neat to get paid for doing nothing. Might be one of the worst unforeseen consequences of this whole debacle. Getting men with able bodies and minds a taste of the subsidy. Lol. My body is already shot. My mind won't let me sit for long tho. Trust me...I'll probably be back to work soon

I know a bunch of people who got laid off or furloughed.
One friend quit a job because he found another one in the high end restaurant business. But the shit hit the fan before he started the new job and they decided not to hire him. Now because he quit his job, he can’t even collect unemployment. Then his wife got furloughed. Un-fucking-real.
I don’t think I ever said anything here but a year & a half ago, I got blindsided & let go of my job after over 20 years. I knew it was going to eventually happen because the clueless morons I worked for were purging money at an alarming rate. But I thought I had at least another 5 years. So when they started look to find money, they looked at my salary.
I was out of work for almost 6 months. So I know how much it sucks. Hope this ends and people can get back to work soon.

I was totally blindsided. 21 seasons of busting my ass 7 days a week, 10 hrs a day for 8 months a year. Fucking scumbag motherfucking pieces of fucking shit. Fortunately I landed on my feet and love my new job. Monday through Friday, 8 hour days. First time since I was 18 years old that I haven’t worked basically every weekend from mid March through mid October. Now that I know so many people dealing with being laid off or furloughed, I really feel their pain. Blessed Easter to you to and everyone else. Hoping any of you that are out of work are back to work soon.

I have one buddy, his boss kept staying open, saying they were essential. Then the other day, boss says I need to lay one of the two of you off. My buddy is single no kids, while the other guy is married with kids. My friend took the bullet, but with increased unemployment, ifs its just a temporary furlough, its not so bad in his mind.

Personally, Ive been lucky, Ive always worked from home, and now the wife is working from home as a teacher. So the money coming in is still there, but we just started our fourth quarter and sales have slowed down, management is micromanaging activity more than ever, so its a pretty stressful situation.
But I feel awful for my friends in the construction and bar/restaurant business. The former not working, the latter having hours cut way back to basically just manning take out services. These people have to get back to work soon, or shit will get real bad.

Been laid off since December. Went back to PA to work in March...then the shit the old fan. Glad I'm still collecting UI, but I don't know if I'll be able to go back this season. Can't see too many people ordering inground pools this year. I'll ride this out as long as I can here in Georgia. Not sure what I'll do after. May end up back in Buffalo. Fuck. I have a buddy of mine who does masonry and patios. Had jobs lined up for months in advance and now all gone. Im hearing some nightmares here in NY. I have a contractor buddy in the same boat, all jobs on hold, sitting at home playing Mr Mom and doing projects in his garage. Which means hes not making money, and cant pay his guys, so they cant spend money, so there's a big ripple effect on the economy.

A lot of businesses having great years just got the plugged pulled on them. Hopefully we can start this thing back up sooner rather than later. I dont think the average person understands just how profound the effects will be the longer we are shutdown.

The Mayor of Philly said he thinks that social distancing will last through summer.
I just can’t see this happening. At some point, people have to get back to work. We are fortunate that I am essential personnel and my wife is able to work at home. But there are loads of people who have been payed off and many more furloughed. I know many who are hurting already. They are scared. And basically, it’s only been a fucking month since the shit hit the fan.
There are loads of businesses that are likely closed for good and others hanging on by a thread.
I don’t want to be the voice of doom and gloom but people must get back to work at some point or we are going to see the next Great Depression. And if that happens, there will be anarchy.
I don’t have the answers but 4 more months of people not being able to work is a lot fucking scarier to me more than the virus.

There's gonna be no "getting back to work" the rulers have flipped the switch, and then stoled all the last pennies from the people. It is NWO and attemped genocide of 90% of the population or whatever % it is that gets the number to 500 Mil. They will let conditions deteriorate to the point people are begging for their execution shots. Bottoms up!

I don’t think they’re taking in to account there will be new treatments available within that timeline. Not taking technology in to account as part of the equati9n in that timeline. The quote is probably “closed through summer (if we do nothing else)”
