Thats who I had in mind. He was charged with 3rd degree murder and manslaughter. Dont forget the feds are also investigating this. So there is a lot to fall back on. My guess is he is doing big time one way or another. Good point. However will “this” Justice Department bring federal civil rights charges? I guess that depends which movie you are watching on the screen.

I think italics would have been grammatically correct.
Does the hampur have a resident English professor that could settle this?

Does the hampur have a resident English professor that could settle this? Hotman, but I think looking out windows and licking his own arse consumes the valuable time he would need to address this task.

The color of the cop's skin, absent any voicing of intent or animus? A white cop dealing with any black person regardless of context is subject to this charge? Just asking. Alot of white cops are assigned in black neighborhoods and vice versa randomly. I worked in Harlem for over 10 years and never hospitalized/killed/shot anyone. During the worst crime wave in NYC history. If I had...it would have been a function of circumstance/demographics, not racial animus. Not defending this guy's tactics but you are assuming intent based upon an outcome you (any many of us) are unhappy with.

My comment had nothing to do with race. Simply put, under this administration, the Civil Rights division of the Justice Dept has been scaled back. To date, Barr has been quiet. Trump mentioned an investigation as a one liner during a larger speech. I need to see it...and the outcome...before I believe it.

KerriKupecDOJ (@kerrikupecdoj) Tweeted: Statement from AG Barr where he acknowledges the outrage on George Floyd’s death as legitimate but condemns violent rioting. “It is a federal crime to cross state lines or to use interstate facilities to incite or participate in violent rioting. We will enforce these laws.” t.co/gnWs5LVVsi

I get people want to see more outrage from Trump/Barr but a good defense will use that to show a fair trial is impossible and angle for a more lenient sentence. And then the same people who want more outrage will blame them for blowing the case. Thats how this stuff works.
See Bowe Bergdahl.
In terms of civil rights, the landmark criminal justice reform this administration spearheaded is more significant than anything I can remember another administration doing in my lifetime. Im old enough to remember other administrations doing the opposite.

Also I would like to see this awareness go beyond bad cops and into District Attorney offices. Thats where the real bludgeoning occurs.

Soros and the "white allies". DAs have been overcharging vulnerable minorities for decades getting them to plea down and padding their numbers. They are often left with public defenders who barely graduated law school so they take the deal. For-profit prisons and their relationships with judges are another issue. Bail is another issue although I do not think what they did here in NY is the solution. Swapping out one problem for another. But the roots go even deeper than that.
