son is enlisting and goes to meps on wednesday. i'm pretty sure they're gonna reject him because he has some small psoriasis spots on his arm. his uncle (military) told him not to disclose that to his recruiter, which i disagreed with because it's not like the doc is not going to see it. anyway my question is about waivers: if he gets rejected, he can start the process of applying for a waiver (which he'll need his recruiter to assist with, which is why i disagreed with keeping the condition from him). anyways, does anyone have any knowledge/experience/advice etc. with the medical waiver process?

Congrats. You can go here: www.socnet.com/index.phpLots of SEALS, Special Forces and some Delta Force post there and they'll give you a straight answer. They're sticklers for detail though. You have to make an introductory post or they won't talk to you. Then ask it in The Lounge forum. Read the "Read this before you post" thread too. |

I worked with a guy who has really bad psoriasis and was in the army from '07-'11 and served in Afghanistan. Maybe it's changed since then, but he'd be a nightmare without a beard.

Don't really remember much about MEPS. I went into the delayed entry program June 5 and got sworn in June 6th. I was drunk and hungover the whole time.

I had mild asthma as a kid. I was dumb enough to mention it at MEPS. Had to get my childhood medical records. Recruiter ripped out any pages mentioning asthma and I served 4 years, lol.

sopne on his way back from meps today
everything great but they did flag the psoriasis
looks like the waiver process is a good possibility as instead of outright denying him, they told him to get a consult with his dermatologist
kid really wants this, make it happen tanny

aight update
sopne #1 got his doctor to write a letter that... let's just say... was written the way his recruiter strongly suggested it be written
this fuckin kid wants to serve his country, while absolutely convinced we'll be in a hot war with china within 2 years
i got balls but this kid has medicine balls. or his pop's psycho bent.
not out of the woods but looking good for admittance. uncle sammy would be dropping the ball by blocking him
