Got part of his leg amputated from diabeetus. Did slowed down after that.

Heck of a player and by all accounts a very nice man. He owned a floral shop after he retired from baseball. I had the privilege to see him play multiple times in St. Louis and Chicago against the Cubs. Thanks for playing the game right Lou.
