Eddie was a legend on guitar, defined a whole style and generation of guitar players. Eddie changed how an entire generation of people thought about electric guitar. His guitar playing reached musical heights no one else even imagined. He was legendary. I had a friend Mark Redford RIP who could play like Eddie to the T. Was a blast to get ripped and crank the amps up to 11 and listen to him shred.
RIP Eddie, fuck cancer.

I loved them in their prime. Van Halen + Black Sabbath 1978 New Haven Coliseum But I love Valerie Bertinelli more. Pretty good debut album: 1. "Runnin' with the Devil" 3:36 2. "Eruption" (instrumental) 1:42 3. "You Really Got Me" Ray Davies 2:38 4. "Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love" 3:50 5. "I'm the One" 3:47 6. "Jamie's Cryin'" 3:31 7. "Atomic Punk" 3:02 8. "Feel Your Love Tonight" 3:43 9. "Little Dreamer" 3:23 10. "Ice Cream Man" John Brim 3:20 11. "On Fire" Thank you, now I don’t feel old. I saw Metallica and Guns N’ Roses at New Haven Coliseum. Also George Thorogood, Judas Priest... Jesus, the list goes on. That’d be a whole ‘nother thread.

I'm not even a fan. Hated what he did to Michael Anthony but the guy was a legend. I passed on that concert. Didn't want to shell out $8.50 for the orange seats at the Garden. Guys came back that night raving about Van Halen. We pronounced it Van Hallen before that show.

Van Halen was a great warm up band at the time.

Did you go to Toads Place? ROCK YOURS IN QUAD! WPLR? I heard about Toad's Place on the CT radio stations when I lived out on LI's south fork. We had My Father's Place. Less squishy

My little guitar crew set out to see Ronnie "Montrose" at a 5K seat hall. Van Halen was "opening" and we thought the name was ... what is that, Van what? More Dutch yodeling (focus hocus pocus) or, god forbid, keyboards (yuck). We were trampled by the metalheads LEAVING as we got in. We thought there had been a fire. Van what? meh, more room for us now...

Did you go to Toads Place? We had My Father's Place. Less squishy Saw the Ramones there...and the Dixie Dregs. They opened up a new version of "My Fathers Place" in a hotel in Rosylyn a few years back, but I never heard much about it.
