Good morning Jets fans...
This date in 2005 the Jets played at Pittsburgh in the second playoff round, fresh of their win in OT in San Diego.
The Jets took an early forth quarter lead at 17-10 after Santana Moss had the first punt return for a TD in Jets playoff history..
Pittsburgh tied the game and Doug Brien had a chance to win the game but his 47 yd attempt hit the upright..
He again had a chance to win it but his 43 yd FG sailed left...first time in NFL playoff history that a kicker missed twice in the final 2 minutes...
Pittsburgh went on to win in OT 20-17 and the Jets season was over...
I remember the emotion of that day, and the disapoitment of that loss..ohhhh the heartache...
And that's the way it was 10 years ago today in NY Jets history..

That Pittsburgh game was probably the game that showed my then 12-year old son what it means to be a Jet Fan. Everyone complains about Doug Brien, but my biggest complaint after teh game was about Herm -- going so conservative on offense to settle for the 43 yard attempt. We get the ball back with a pick, get one first down and then run twice, and Chad takes a knee on 3rd down. You knew he was going to miss. I put that one on Herm rather than Brien. That said, Brien needs to make one of those two kicks.
Interesting side note to that game -- it was our 3rd straight OT game. I think that is the only time a team has ever played 3 straight OT games.

I think you're correct..... it was draining for the fans as well...

Looks on the bright side, today is also 15 years ago today the Jags destroyed the Fins 62-7 in Marino's last game.
