Thinking most of what we hear with these wild trade scenarios is all BS. Obvious answer is JD is taking a QB at 2. Sounds like nobody has offered much for Sam. If the best you can get is a late 3rd or 4th then he has become irrelevant. Keep him until you can't (cost)...worst case cut him outright. I don't understand why this is so complicated. He didn't draft the fuckin kid. He's not on the hook. Unless he dumps him out of fear and the mufuvka looks good elsewhere

Keep hearing Zach Wilson was a rich kid. Yet... and why is success a bad thing? How shitty has our society become that succeeding is synonymous with evil? You work your ass off to get the knowledge you need, you work hard and apply it, perhaps some luck falls your way, you don't waste all of your time partying, doing drugs, hanging with the wrong crowd, knocking up (or getting knocked up) out of wedlock and that makes you evil. You are a career criminal, do tons of drugs, hang out with the wrong crowd, knocking up (or getting knocked up) out of wedlock, leave your kid in another state "to get back on your feet", continue to be a criminal and do drugs and die and now people call you a saint and burn cities down in your name. We are doomed.

The fact that a star QB at a pretty big school had to work for Door Dash is even more proof that these kids should be given a salary. I know their education is worth a ton and it should be factored in but they also need money to live on.
I was happy to see SCOTUS sticking it to the NCAA yesterday. Fuck those marxist cess pools and their billion dollar endowments.

It turned Political because the Liberal Faggotry can't stand anyone that voted for Trump.
If he voted for Biden or whomever else, they'd be on his tip.

I think the ship has sailed on trading the 2nd overall for a lot of picks. It sailed when SF moved up, so fyi I would of taken that deal and for better or worse, rolled with Darnold. Rolled with the numerous upgrades in FA and the draft and if Darnold screwed up, address the QB situation the next off season or draft. I don't think anyone else will offer the Jets what the Fins got to trade out of the #3. However, if they did I'm still inclined to make the deal. Conversely, I understand JD and Salah wanting to start with their guy at QB, so there's that. I just keep wondering how much trading the 2nd would of got the Jets.

I don’t think the Jets are trading out of the second pick up. I’m convinced that they’re going with Wilson. But I think if they wanted to trade, there would be a partner for them. And I believe you would probably get someone to give up three first rounders. But I agree that the ship has sailed on it.

I have nothing against Wilson but I don't think he is such a sure thing that it makes sense to pick him at #2 and put him on a team with a for shit O-line and which is in the process of installing an offense which will be new to every player on the team. It seems to me that both Sewell and Pitts would be better picks at #2 because Sewell is as close to a sure thing future all-pro as you are gonna get in a draft pick and Pitts is a game changer - a player that causes a D to have to change their entire approach when playing you.
I just don't see the sense in putting a rookie QB on an incomplete team while he learns the new O with his teammates. Isn't it better to wait a year, after the players fully understand the O and then draft a QB so he is the only one learning and you can plug him into a fully functioning Offense?
My views are not born of any love of Darnold. Frankly, the Jets should have just found some Vet who had some experience in a Shannahan/LafLeur OF and brought him in to compete (and beat out) Darnold. This is about the right way to build a team and the best way to foster success for a rookie QB. If the Jets draft Wilson, I fear it will just be a repeat of previous mistakes.

All signs are now pointing toward the Jets drafting Wilson.
Whether that results in disaster or not, remains to be seen.
The fact of the matter is, though, that Joe D(like EVERY GM) wants his own guy at QB to live and die with.
Joe probably doesn't want to stake his Jets GM career on a player he never drafted.

if they keep Sam then he walks away nxt yr don't they get a comp pick? Depends on a few things. The size of Sam's contract, and how many free agents we sign and lose. Might be other things too.

Jets better draft some goddamn oline or shore it up with more FA, or Wilson will be Sanchez 3.0 or Sam 2.0

Reminds me of when there were draft experts saying kellen Clemens was the best QB in that draft back in the day.

Simms is actually pretty darn good with his QB evaluations.
Chris Simms' record with quarterback evaluation Simms tends to get a lot of hate for going against the tide with his quarterback rankings, but he's had pretty good hit rate so far. Plus he never lets other scouts' opinions sway him and his evaluations. Here are his QB prospect rankings:
2018 Lamar Jackson Josh Allen Baker Mayfield Sam Darnold Josh Rosen
2019 Kyler Murray Drew Lock Dwayne Haskins Ryan Finley Jarrett Stidham Daniel Jones Clayton Thorson Will Grier
2020 Joe Burrow Justin Herbert Jordan Love Tua Tagovailoa
He didn't make the QB prospect ranking video for the 2017 draft class, but while he was at Bleacher Report he had came out to say that Patrick Mahomes Is 2017 NFL Draft's Most Special QB Talent
I think his track record speaks for itself. He's got a really good eye for QB talents and a team looking for a quarterback in the upcoming draft should really take his opinions under consideration.
