Any of you ever sell a car to Carmax? I did a car value estimate on Edmunds.com and it gave a "Guaranteed" Carmax offer about 30% above their estimate for selling it on my own. Seems too good to be true. The closest Carmax to me is about an hour+ away and we would have to take 2 cars just to see if they are for real on the price. Wanted to get some feedback from people I trust before taking my time to bring it there. Thoughts? My initial reaction is if something seems too good to be true then it probably is. Sorry I don't have any insight into Carmax but I wish you good luck and hope the deal goes as advertized One question though, who are these people you speak of that you trust? Mostly Southside and JetsRule but sadly they haven't given their input so I just have to live with the advice from the ones that did. |

I sold a 2011 Infiniti M37x to Carvana last year. Honestly, it was the best sales experience ever. The car was in great condition, perfectly maintained. It had been in one minor accident (rear ended), however the damage was fixed. I first took it to Car Max, roughly 20 minutes away. They definitely attempted to lowball me on the value. With Carvana, everything was done on line. They made the offer, I accepted, and 48 hours later, I was greeting their rep at my door. I handed over the title, she looked at the vehicle and then put it on a flatbed, with 4 other cars. Finally, she handed me a check, deal done.
The entire process took 4 days, from my providing info to car pickup.
I’d definitely use them again.

Sold two cars to Carmax, One I brought in Volvo C60, Got over market, second was a town and country did the online thing, the car was as described and they honored
once i got there.

We used Carmax to sell my moms old car when she passed. They seemed fair in how they appraised and what they offered, but TBH, we were basically looking to just dump the car and get something for it, so we pretty much didnt give a shit. Definitely easier than trying to sell it privately.
