Can you elaborate why you feel it’s a travesty? Serious question. Besides it’s hot there. 1 - Having the WC in Qatar is Like having the SB in the Mojave Desert 2 - Qatar is not a soccer country. 3 - WC is normally in June-July. To have it in Qatar the whole world had to change their local schedules to have it in Nov/dec so everyone doesn't die from heat stroke. 4 - Not to go green but it's an environmental/social disaster. Thousands of immigrant workers have died during the construction of state of the art air conditioned open air stadiums.. 5 - Fan experience will be awful. Crazy heat and no alcohol. Could be worse... They could have a contract with Budweiser again.

Gotta admit...pretty much indifferent at this point. Just feels wrong having it in December. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and teh chance of Jets playing meaningful ball in December I'm just not sure how to go about this. It's almost like they didn't consider the NFL when they scheduled this.

Dudes will come back physically spent from the WC and have to start the home stretch of their Championships and CL..

Watched FIFA Uncovered on Netflix. 1st episode was la sleeper then then picked up quickly.
Spoiler alert: for some reason I. Didn’t know FIFA was a non profit org. they’re corrupt as shit and it really doesn’t cost much to buy influence on the world stage. Been that way from the start and I doubt it ever changes.
I get the feeling FBI wouldn’t have given 2 shits until the 2022 Qatar award. IMO, they could have been focusing on more important things…but I guess if the whole thing is dropped in your lap you gotta roll?
Not really a great tune up for the WC.

I'm in the process of watching it and was also surprised to hear they were non-profit. Nothing really ground breaking, you could do the same documentary for the Olympics committee. The way FIFA is structured with one country 1 vote lays the groundwork for obvious corruption, and giving disproportionnate power to insignificant countries. I was very dissapointed in Platini who voted for Qatar. He was one of my heros growing up, and always defending "the beauty of football". If you love the game, you don't vote for Qatar.

Seems like all/most were “dirty” to some degree. Seems like just the accepted way of doing business in that community. Jack Warner though. Stone cold mofo. Could make a mob movie about him alone.
