On the top European teams the gardners are one of the best paid people on the staffs. PSG went and poached some dude from premier league a while back and the Paris stadium has arguably one of the best fields in Europe. Who owns and operates that stadium? Does it make money or is it state funded and taxpayers are paying the freight? It's all about who is paying the bills and who is receiving the revenues, if any. Sports club owners (all of them) have no problem getting a great venue for little to no cost. Meanwhile the bourgeoisie is paying the burdensome taxes required to support something that has absolutely nothing to do with business of governing. It makes good press for government to identify with a winning team so they happily fund these abominations hoping to hit the jackpot if a championship ever happens. Want to see what the fans get if the owners have to pay the actual cost of supporting these venues? Even with state funded stadium properties, the owners are not putting a dime into them and are bleeding off every last cent they can. Totally agree. I would say most major Soccer stadiums have naming rights/sponsorships (Allianz Arena for Bayern..etc). Real is notorious for being backed by the king and anytime they need cash, something falls from the tree. I don't know the details for these naming deals, but one could argue, if you're goal is to fill the stadium with the best product, it's in your best interest to have the best tool (field/players) to maximize attendance. In any case, there's little to no money to be made in soccer. The amount of money you need to attract the best players isn't covered by revenue..PSG for instance is backed by Qatar, so whenever they need more cash, they increase the jersey sponsorship deal to insane amounts, to cover the Neymar/Messi contracts.

Would have been better if he didn't play for Inter.

Not a soccer guy, (duh) but shouldnt the pass following it have led the striker rather than having him have to come back to it as the defender arrives?

The initial pass was amazing, very Beckham-like, but the cross towards the goal was in too much traffic. Defender was all over it. Gotta pop it in the air and see what happens.

Back to the choice of Met Life, can't imagine the kind of money/bribes involved to choose Met Life over some of the other state of the art stadiums built these last few years. We know FIFA is for sale. Im sure Woody played some ball and used his diplomatic contacts. I dont think Dallas was ever in serious consideration. I think it was NY or LA. I did some digging and it seems there has been some disputes between Kroenke and FIFA over money. Also the stadium has to remove seating to host soccer games so the amount of ticket sales may also be an issue. But SoFi is still getting 8 matches for the World Cup. Also seems like Metlife has hosted a ton of soccer matches over the years and has gotten good reviews.

Buddy of mine brought our oldest's to see Tottenham (my team) vs Roma at MetLife a few years ago. Haven't been back since because the stadium sucks, but seeing a game played on actual grass was cool. Have also seen Tottenham vs Red Bulls at Red Bull stadium in NJ, which was awesome. Peak Garreth Bale and Luca Modric.

Even if the venues are crazy, Las Vegas, Atlanta or Minnesota probably weren't in the mix, or have the right connections. Met Life resembles a lot of European soccer stadiums, so makes sense in a way.
